RS4 Numbers

Post by Contigo » Tue Sep 30, 2008 2:31 pm

So I followed the lead from DickyC in the RS2 forums and got the relevant contact details and it seems that

"Phil,

There are 506 RS4s (only 2 of which were imports) manufactured between 2000 and 2002 that are still registered with the DVLA.

Regards,"

More than we first thought then? I was always under the impression there were circa 400 in the UK.

IIRC there were 6,000 world wide, of which only 400 were RHD.

Bloody hell, they're breeding.

I wonder what the explanation behind that is?

Not sure about that Dave, surely there were more RHD's than that, as some other countries drive on the right too (Japan, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, ...?).

So where have the other 106 come from then? Would be good to get further details of how that 506 is made up. I see from the thread on the RS2 section that we may be able to get this for a couple of hundred quid. I'd be up for a group buy if others were into it.

Dace, this info is more accurate than, someone on Wiki or whatever saying "there were 400 cars sold to the UK"

Now I thought like you that there were 6000 worldwide and 400 UK cars, (more RHD as Jarv says based on Japanese and Aus market etc... )

I contacted the guys at Polk and they have sent me this information, Initially he said

"Unfortunately the data provided to us by the DVLA does not detail which of the RS4s are B5 Avants, it only tells me that there are a little over 3,500 Audi RS4s in total"

So then I asked him to search for Manufacturing year 2000 to 2002 and that's when he sent me the 506 number.

It's from DVLA supplied data so I doubt it's wrong.

Dunno. Doubt they would be from the UK allocation though

Thats strange considering how many may have been written off/stolen recovered.

Something fishy somewhere!

If the DVLA can register a silver car as being purple then I wouldn't trust their figures.

Mines a RHD that was sent to Cyprus and then imported into NI, so there must be a few more RHD around the world

But it's actually correct as it has a purple base to it.
