approaching 90k, now what ?

Post by timba » Sun Sep 28, 2008 10:09 am

Hi all

The car is approaching 90k and I was just thinking what should I replace on the car to keep it feeling tight ?

the mods I have had done so far are

MRC custom remap
koni's all round
H & R ARB's
Tanoga short shift

Haven't done the brakes as had to replace front discs and pads to pass mot and did'nt have the funds to get the B7 set up.

What bushes on the suspension need replacing at high mileage ? and is expensive to get all the turbo pipework replaced (because I'm paranoid about air leaks) ?

still enjoying it tho

you don't need to change all the turbo pipework (it would cost an arm and a leg).
Just change all the bushes with Powerflex ones, change engine-transmission mounts, and buy a 034motorsport Snub Mount.

It will be enough to re-tight the car as it was originally.

we havent done anything to ours and we have 110k miles or so I think.

I suspect owners replace components without the real need to just because some one else has... do yours when you NEED to replace them.

Check you have strengthening plates on your H&R's....otherwise you might get a cracked subframe...just like me!

Take it to a (good) specialist for a check up to see if it needs anything
Tomorrow is another day

Hmmm Cracked subframe ! Ouch better have a look at mine.

Was thinking of things that wear out so going to have a look at CV boots, bushes and engine mounts.

CV boots would have been part of the MoT test.
