Back to the RS, if you can hire a trailer then I would do that - if the turbos let go big time and the internals go through your engine it will be big bucks.

Not sure what to do with new turbos - RS4 or RS6? The trouble with going down the RS6 turbo route is that it can become very expensive, very quickly, with bigger injectors, new manifolds, uprated clutch, fuel pump, etc...
Have to agree.

I would be happy with over 170k on std K04's. They are ultra reliable if treated well.

Really sorry for you mate.

To echo what others have said, IMHO I would try and hire a trailer - try and aviod driving it to MRC.
(I have a wheel bearing going and am keeping that off the road as much as possible until fixed!)

Problem is, I think you need MRC to check it before making any decisions, as we're only assuming it's the turbo's (although quite likely).
IMO, if it does turn out to be turbo's then it might be worth repairing it and keeping it - if you still wish to sell you could still get asking price (possibly slightly more with brand new turbo's, if bought new) and you would have effectively sold it for asking price minus price of fitting new turbo's, but without the ballache of trying to sell it with dead turbo's...?

Let us know how you get on tomorrow??

Doh! - echo'ing what people have said already Tom - Very upset for you.
I agree with what Marcus stated above, you can't really make a decision until you know all the facts - I suggest you get the car towed or trailered up to MRC and then re-assess your options when you have had the proper fault diagnosis.
- We can then help you with your decision of what you should and shouldn't be buying (I've been there on the 993Turbo and 996 debate myself recently) - Decided to throw some more tuning cash at the R32 project and beat them all!

Good luck matey, fingers crossed it may turn out to be something not quite as bad as you think. - Guy

Seeing as the exhaust has been recently disturbed, have you checked there isn't a blockage such as a catalyst break up etc?
Audi V6s seem to go through cats quite often.
Just a thought..

As has been mentioned earlier...let Doug check it over first... and then decide...if it were me I'd keep it.

even though my ulitmate goal car is a 996TT....why not make the car your 40th birthday pressie!!!..5 more years of RS ownership..

beautiful car by the way!!!...

Hi All,

Wise words all round.

I will update when I have news from MRC and when I have done some calculations. Hey, its only a car so the decision should be financial and not emotional. Saying that I have owned a lot of cars and this is by far the best.

I have also taken the decision to drive to MRC, I simply just don;t have the time to organise a trailer with work commitments. The wife is following in the clio (BTW, the clio is for sale on eBay, No reserve, 99p start, just search under seller tommy_buttcheeks. Clio 182) I also have AA roadside membership if anything goes wrong. We will be taking it very steady.

How about waiting until you get to MRC before you make any decisions, you are just crossing bridges before you get to them. Your car has a problem, the only issue is how much to fix it. I've just had ongoing grief with mine and you wouldn't believe the relief and lack of desire to sell once it is sorted.
If you go the 911 route, a 993 is likely to be more durable than a 996 and for my two pennyworth likely to hold its value a bit better.

when my ko4 shat itself the engine oil poured through the turbo causing lots of smoke and no boost. is yours doing that? if so you will have no oil left by the time you get to mrc so add an engine rebuild to your shopping list. :?
