Mine had an Audi sticker, with the part number on it, and silver in colour. Also the new exchange ones, have an exchange colour logo on the AFM, or if its a Bosch one, then a Bosch Exchange sticker

"Do the reset through Vagcom" - what do you mean? I've suspicions my MAF is on its way out, but I've only got shareware version of Vagcom, can I do it with that?
Any instructions would be a help...... :?

At a high level description... hook up your vagcom. Log blocks 003 and 115. Put it in third gear and set cruise control at 45mph. Start logging, give it the beans to 7,000 rpm. Repeat a few times. Have a look at your maf readings, they are in g/s. This will tell you how your maf is behaving. Post results.... should be mid 300's. HTH. I can give you more detailed instructions if you require.

I don't think you can do logs, or read measured block values with the shareware version

Hi Jay,

Don't have an RS4 too long but did quite a bit of reading back regarding old posts and stuff looking for a few missing HP when I came across the MAF issue. Some do it as preventative maintenace, others when it fails or like myself... if its not reading what it should then change. Cheap enough to replace so probably no harm in changing. Best way is check it on vagcom to see if it needs doing at all. Just my two cents... HTH

As stated mine was original from factory, and with 80k odd, and 7yrs old, I didn't think twice about changing it, especially for the price!

Got mine this week (ordered 2) Vast gave great service, and very quick delivery.

Changed mine yesterday and it is much better, smoother and I was getting occasional boost spikes before which have all gone, feels different now, before it would surge on part throttle and "felt" faster, but now it is controlled and smooth with the power just climbing all the way, well chuffed!

Power is looking good - MAF reading is maxed out on Vag-com well before the redline.

By the way I have 3 second hand MAFs, one came with the airbox, one off ebay and one with the APR chip.
I have played with them, (cleaning etc), different readings on all of them - one completely dead!, all at least 6 years old and none of them fixed the surging. Turns out then that all 3 were at various stages of failing - although difficult to tell from the logs for 2 of them, but once the new one was in it changed things completely.
For the price I think it is worth an annual change or at least bi-annual at a service.
