Stasis/Koni sport suspension

Post by mikeyquattro » Thu Dec 20, 2007 7:04 pm

I want to upgrade my suspensionand lower it slightly and one option is going statside for suspension due to the weak dollar.

Any comments on this set up??

Although its under S4 section, I presume it's suitable for Rs too?

Yeah, S4 coilovers fit (the Bilsteins have the same model number for both cars). Ohlins/Motorsport coilovers from Stasis are by far the best option, and worth the extra. Then again, there is the new SL product, which uses essentially the same components but without the adjustability, and much cheaper (see eg for the B7RS4). Not available for the B5, but you could inquire as to whether than will change.

I actually have the Stasis/Koni set-up on my S4 but for me it is too uncomfortable for driving around the family - it did lower the car nicely however so the optics improved. Frankly, I still think the standard RS4 set-up is superior as it is a better all round alternative.

Keep me posted about the Quattro gmbh setup.

I was having a look on ETKA the other day, and it states the springs are Eibach. I guess to Quattro gmbh's standards

i had stock suspension on mine and then upped to Quattro GmbH . I found the ride a bit harder at first but have got use to it.
your right about the springs being Eibach. Car sits that little bit lower aswell and does ground on some speed humps.

What colour are the Quattro gmbh shocks or are they identifiable in any other way?

How much does the Quattro gmbh setup lower the car by?

shocks are the same colour, as for the markings i didnt check. Springs however do have "eibach" on them. I dont know if it is recognizable from the springs alone but the first time i took it to QST he pointed out straight away that it had the GmbH suspension. I have paired it up to the H&R ARBs . (23mm Rear).

The shocks are also Quattro gmbh items I guess in the Quattro gmbh setup?

I'm sure that Quattro GMBH shocks are made by Sachs. The springs are definitely Eibach.
I wouldn't lower the car anymore than the Quattro GMBH springs as it is a real pain over speed ramps, especially with the Milltek exhaust .
Apart from that i think it is a good compromise for everyday use and occasional track-days.

Thanks for all the input everyone, but it seems lowering it will only cause more hassle with everyday use!
