Correct me if I'm wrong but....[Somewhat confused from the slight meanderings and theorising across different models but]....I seem to gather that someone has actually commissioned a custom made [for **B5 RS4**] set of I/C's which require just about bugger all mods and are about as plug and play as you can get?

With a power gain est. around 5-8-ish%

For about 900 quid pre-[potential?]'bulk' discount?

Hmmmm 471bhp +5>8% takes me up to that magical 500 number....FFS I thought I was done spending on this thing for now

So...one [potentially stoopid] question...would it be fine running on my existing map? or would I need to tweak the map on a dyno to refine post upgrade?

Technically i THINK i souldn't make any difference to the map as a more efficient intercooler just cools the charge going into the engine, like driving the car in the winter/ cold night, when a turbo charged car always seems at its fastest!

Hi by the way, first post! 8)

Indeed mate - with a standard map it would just be like driving on a colder day than normal ie. better performance.

Cheers,

So any more news on the production of these babies? And can someone explain why they won't fit into a B5 S4 (even if it has an RS4 bumper)?

I'd like bigger i/c's but don't want an FMIC - so bigger SMICs would be nice if possible (bigger surface area that is - not bigger depth)

??? Saf - someone not happy with the finished article? And why the need for current shrouds - according to the web-site the new carbon-fibre jobbies were essential to allow maximal air-flow to the enlarged front surface of the i/c ... ? Some more detail required here mate ...!

DoggyDave is selling these IC's as they are not good for his setup. Something to do with having huge turbos and pressure drops and him needing less rows or more rows or something like that so hes having another set made. Ive seen them and they do look nice. These are better suited for smaller turbo's. Like K04's hybrids or RS6.

I was offered them but I already have RS4 IC's that will go onto mine. I live in a place full of road humps and these babies hang down quite a bit, so not feasible at all. Julian, your cars is so ultra low, I dont think they would be a good idea for you. They really hang that low but check with Dave first. Saying that hes car is about as low as you can get and he had them on and they were okay. Not sure if they will fit an S4 though.

As for the carbon fibre jobbies, I think he will still be using them for his setup. To be honest whether its made of carbon fibre or plastic doesnt make any difference. They look similar to the RS4 ones and should flow the same.

Ok Saf - thanks for the info; sounds like they will be too 'tall' for my set-up then.
