As articulate and intelligent as I am I struggle to understand the point you're trying to convey in the post above

The three quotes were in respones to this above.

I totally agree about the forum. PhilT runs a pretty tight ship around here but I am somewhat dismayed to see mods like this being openly discussed with little or no thought of the effects it can have and the legalities involved... I am a firm believer that there is a time and a place for everything. However there is no time or place on our roads for a TV being on where the driver can watch it if he so wishes to do so. Irrespective of wether your sitting in the traffic, entertaining the kids, what ever...

Can you honestly say that you have never took your eye off the road to have a quick look at the TV while it was on? Be truthful now (if not to me then to yourself)...

Thats why you could never watch the TV in the car from the factory, it is illegal and for very good reasons.

Mods like this have no place on an open forum IMO.

It’s quite simple really if you really don't agree with the threads comments then why not try taking the Fifth Amendment and remaining quiet... If you have a major objection to the threads content report it to the Crew/Mods and let them adjudicate....

As a final comment ask yourself this, as you seem to hold yourself in such a high esteem, can you honesty say that you have never taken your eyes off of the road, to change a radio station, observe something directly away from the immediate carriageway in front, change the air con controls or sneeze ??? I thought not........

As I said, You just carry on doing what you are doing.

If you want to openly admit on a forum that you drive around the roads with the TV on then you go for it, you bad boy!! I dont really care how much of a plonker you make yourself look!!

I know I am right in the fact that you should not be watching TV.. Period..

Subjects like this should be condoned on forums when it is so dangerous yet your attitude towards it makes you think your big and clever.. look at me I'm watching TV!!

Not in my book your not. Your a prize winning wally...

Thats it, I have said all I will say on the subject. No matter how hard you try there is no reasoning with an idiot!!

wow, you really are missing something in your life.....what a jumped up little nerd...

BTW - I think you need to re-read the conent of this thread. Not once have I said that I
drive around the roads with the TV on
. Just because I have enabled 'TV in motion' does not mean I not any of the other posters actually do so.....

You really need to get off your high horse and get a personality check.....

yes, and that statement says I have the facility to activate TV in motion, doesn't say I watch TV whilst driving....

and FYI - The lodge is a private estate and not on a public highway...

TBH, I didn’t think you were worth responding to. I like this forum, it’s well moderated and generally frequented by friendly, enthusiastic, sensible and, on the whole (apart maybe from the odd speed infraction!) law abiding citizens. Dave appears to be doing a fine job batting for the compos-mentis against the non. I understand that you are part of the old guard, one of the originals, and for that, we are eternally grateful for without the likes of you we may not have the healthy 246 forum which we all enjoy today. You’ll still be remembered in the odd post, now and then, there’s no need to embrace the pigeon technique of flapping around, shyting on everything and then buggering off to be remembered. Besides, you don’t want to be remembered for being a troll do you? I can understand that, in the old days, the RS4 B5 was an exclusive beast owned by well to do discerning types and now, alas, the value has dropped to such an extent that it is now in the reach of the likes of those posting in this thread.

You have an opinion that it is dangerous to watch TV whilst driving and appear to be hell bent or forcing this opinion on everyone who’s willing to listen. If your aim is to mix it up a bit and force a controversial opinion down people’s throats, then I’d start off with something a little less obvious than it’s dangerous to watch TV whilst driving. If you really are a latter day saint fighting the good fight, then how about posting a poll on here and asking ‘Do you think it’s: a) Safe to drive whilst watching TV, b) Unsafe to drive whilst watching TV and how about a c) Safe to drive whilst drunk wearing a balaclava backwards'.

I don’t know why I should be defending myself against you, you probably won’t listen anyway. But, here goes. I don’t watch TV whilst driving, I don’t condone watching TV whilst driving and I never said that I do watch TV whilst driving. I explained my reason for enabling TV in motion (in fact, it was the previous owner who enabled it) and I also stated that I used headrest monitors in the back of the car. It’s dangerous enough having a navigation screen that low, so watching TV and driving safely would be virtually impossible.

Just to clear one thing up, I trust your comment ‘Or you don’t catch up to me!!’ meant you hope you won’t come across anyone driving and watching TV because it might put you in a potentially dangerous situation, rather than anything else. Forum postings can be a sterile way of putting your feelings across and can, sometimes, be misconstrued.
Mike

Nicely put Jarv.

Irrespective of being "Old Guard" this Tarmac Terrorist character is clearly a pompous, imperious, self-righteous cock. Implying that one has "millions" is simply vulgar and is indicative of a seriously flawed personality.

If this is an example of the "Old Guard" then roll-on its demise. And NO - I don't have this mod.

C'mon chaps, lets be nice about this. This is supposed to be a fun place to be...

Gavin is clearly one of the rare breed of motorists who follows the letter of the law, and presumably has only ever questioned the stated speed limits when absolutely 100% safe to do so (if at all?), and wouldn't dream of doing any of the other things referred to above? If so, he is absolutely right to take the moral high ground and express his opinions on the matter, but why this has to be done in such a rude and arrogant manner is beyond me - I thought such behaviour is reserved for the elite of certain members of the Crew...

As to whether fiddling with the radio, glancing at the Satnav, smoking a cigarette, reprimanding children in the back, and the like are any more dangerous than glancing at the screen when displaying a TV picture (as opposed to a Satnav map), none of which are strictly against the law, opens up a whole new debate...
