MRC -v- QST

Post by quattrokid1 » Wed Sep 05, 2007 5:42 pm

Often wondered why NO ONE has ever mentioned QST for tuning their cars? surely not everyone lives in Banbury down there!!

Has anyone got a QST modded car on here?

My pal has one up here but is thinking of taking it to MRC soon so I was wondering is it a good idea or not to take the MTM chip out of his and put it in ours?

Just wondered but when I get the time and chance I'll be to MRC as well.

I live 1 1/2 hours from Banbury, just long enough to fully test their work on the way home. :D

We really need someone like MRC up in Scotland, the closest thing i can think of is Star Perfomance in Fife.
From what i've heard though people don't really rate them for some reason when it comes to tuning RS4's beyond a simple remap and exhaust, though i do remember one member on here from Scotland with a misano red RS4 running big turbos and over 500bhp done by Star Performance!
I think it was Redrocket, not sure though.
I reckon that Star Performance are capable when it comes to turbo conversions judging by some of the other VAG cars that i've seen them tune, i'm just unsure if they are as experienced as MRC when it comes to getting the best from an S4 or RS4 motor.

Contigo.. I to have been down to MRC for a health check, only because I was going with Norrs2 in convoy with a few other Scottish quattro owners heading south for the weekend to Stoneleigh then to Donington for the forum track day, i was introduced to Doug so I took my girlfriends car down for them to have a look at it for me as it was spluttering under acceleration, found a knackered D.V so both were replaced, but the point is its still a long drive to get there and back and the only feasable time to get to MRC would be a Saturday morning...so time is of the essence and if there is a big job to do. ie a cam belt change or pre cat gutting etc then we need to plan a mile in advance if theyre open that is!! otherwise we're stuffed until I get the Ur up and running again so we can afford to have the RS o.o.a

Afraid that aint going to work as the memory is reprogrammed with the remap, there is no physical swapping of chips involved for the RS4.

So looks like you will need to pay a visit to MRC quattrokid1 :D

I'd assumed he was talking about just swapping the ECU's around, would that not work?
