My 2cents: love the Michelin Pilot Sports.
Why don't you set up a poll here to get the votes in an efficient manner? Ask Conti, he knows how.

The other question is correct load rating or not??????

I liked the Michellin Pilot Sports, never tried the Pilot Sport 2's but think the Brisdgestone S03 get a good vote but are the wrong load rating!!!

Just my 2 penneth worth
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Michelin Pilot Sport 2. My best tires, better than Pilot Sport 1 and Pirelli P Zero Nero... and correct load rating...

Had SP9000 as the supplied tyres. I love the Toyos, more 'bang per buck'.

My Pirelli's lasted forever at the expense of very bad tramlining - also no bent wheels

Now on Bridgestones wrong rating but still 100 times better BUT Seven bent wheels since fitting

My car had michelins on it when I test drove it, and it tramlined like a b@stard.
They replaced the fronts for me before I picked it up (S02s) and it is a totally different feel.
Hardly any tramlining now.

The old tyres were down to the wear markers though, so maybe not a fair comparison...

Load Rating is something some guys don't care about.
Does anybody have a better explanation?
What's that?

Here's a link that shows pretty much all the ways to read a tire and includes a glossary.
http://www.yokohamatire.com/utreading.asp

The load index is described in the first part of the Speed Rating section
("The load index is a representation of the maximum load each tire is designed to support")
So having 4 tires of 71 load index on an RS4 means trouble ;-) (4 x 345kg = 1.38ton load capacity for an empty 1.8ton car).
http://www.yokohamatire.com/utspeed.asp

For those who want to dive into the computation, browse around the sub-categories of Customizing.
http://www.yokohamatire.com/utcustom.asp

And finally for those who wondered about what tire size can fit what rim size, the Rim/Wheel Width section.
http://www.yokohamatire.com/utrimwidth.asp

(a similar one for Bridgestone winter tire here http://www.bridgestonetire.com/dpp/size ... ductid=222 , where load index is called Service Description)

Jan,
Bridgestone SO2 265/35/18 93Y. Do a big crap before I sit in the car to make up for the 20 kg difference in the load rating

Just a note on my experience

I had Pilot sports for about 8k miles on first Rs4 started to tramline at about 4-5k miles but grip seemed ok, then changed car to another, which had P Zero's very sticky but awfull tramlining from about 2.5k. I had pretty much worn these out at about 10k at which point they had really bad tramlining, even with tyres swopped front to back at about 6k, in fact it felt seriously dangerous over mixed bad surfaces and bumps you had to have a really strong grip on things to hang on. In fact my missus thought the steering was coming apart as she rarely drives the car.

Now have had Conti Sport 2's (longish wait in March, as new tyre then) for 4.5k miles since then, seem to have lowish noise, not too bad tramlining (best so far) had very good write up as good allrounder in German test can't remember which though. Much quieter than yokos and bridgstones apparently with similar to better grip. Very popular now as new fittment on bm's mercs and new s4 and rs6 etc .

I am quite happy with road performance will have to find time for track day.

Hope you're not more confused
