Warranty

Post by misanored » Tue Jul 10, 2007 5:19 pm

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a RS4 and picking it up in two weeks. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with warranties. I have been quoted £750.00 for three years cover including the cat from a company called Car2Cover www.car2cover.co.uk . Has anyone heard of this company or have experienced a claim. It sounds cheap condsidering Warranty Direct wanted £500.00+ for a year. Your comments would be appreicated.

It sounds too cheap.

I pay 50 pounds a month with Warranty Direct and I think that's good value.

Alot of these after market warranties will do anything to get out of a payout so make sure you read the small print if you do sign up.

...er, isn't one of the ways they use to get out of paying is refusing cover if the car is modified?

I was with them, but cancelled it when they wouldn't cover me due to the MTM work on my car.

I went with warranty-direct, about 700 IIRC for 13 months cover

I declared all the mods and they said no problem, they weren't concerned about that, only that the car had a FSH and it was kept up to date (they were recommended to me)

Given the old addage 'you get what you pay for' I coughed up...

Very topical thread for me.......

I've just cancelled the policy I purchased with Warranty Direct, 6 months into the term or cover, as I'm in dispute with them over payment of repairs to my car.

I paid £800 to get Gold cover with main dealer labour rates, and my first claim which I expected to be covered has been declined.

Not happy, and reading around a few forums, it seems to be a pattern of their behaviour.

I had until last month Gold cover with Car Protect and they coughed up no problem when my Alternator failed.

The Audi/Mondial one is pretty damn good IMHO - never had a problem on payout....but it is a lot of dosh. last renewal was £1300. Over the last 3 years I've had my monies worth!

Glad thats the case now.

My experience with them was different, but this was over a year ago. Initially they emailed me a quote for an RS4, and at the bottom of it the small print declined cover for "twin turbo cars"... d'uh. After a thread on this forum about it, they changed that small print and I took up cover. Then when I had it modified I checked with them twice to see if it was ok, and they told me it wouldn't be covered so I had to cancel.

Anyway the car has been perfect thus far, so at least I'm building up an imaginary pot of saved premiums for when something does happen...
