Another New Owner

Post by Edgy » Wed May 23, 2007 10:10 pm

I have today placed a deposit on a nicely maintained with a full Audi Service History 2000 RS4. Car was totaly mint - looked like a very loved motor. Avus Silver - 53K miles - Hi-Tech seats but no Sat Nav or Sunroof but all other options

Could the Sat Nev be retro fitted - and if it can what sort of money am I looking at ?

Can't wait to pick it up next week - and it just goes to show that good examples of this fab car are still available.

Retrofitting a sat nav is possible.
How much i don't really know but if you're at it why not take the RNS-E?
An opinion is like an asshole, everybody has got one.

Welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy the car. I still remember the excitment of waiting to pick up mine over three years ago!

Personally I prefer external satnav systems (eg TomTom) becuase they can be updated far more frequently and at much lower cost than factory fitted type systems.

Just my 2p....

Same here re the seperate SATNAV. RNS-E isn't a straight forward fit in the RS4 so can work out expensive with mixed results

Welcome, good choice of colour :FIREdevil:

Second the above re TomTom, save the money on the SatNav and give it Doug @ MRC instead. A much better investment

Welcome Edgy

You are indeed a man of discerning taste in car colour.

A lot of people don't rate the RNS-D CD based sat-nav system, but I do, and I am glad it wasn't a fixture that I compromised on when I bought my car. But whether I would go to the expense of retro-fitting is a different matter. Having said that, sticking things to windscreens using suction cups is not my thing (unless it's a track day camera mount).

Enjoy your new car.
Mike

Well I finally got the car today - and all I can say is WOW !!!!! After having an S4 for the last couple of years this is just a brilliant upgrade.

Just got to look into the brakes and possibally some new rubber on each corner

Hi Edgy...you have done the same upgrade route that I took...S4 then RS4. What next you may ask. Well...I gett he feeling you are thinking along the right lines already (brakes, rubber......).It won't be long before the 380 horses won't feel enough and the urge to give the engine a shot of adrenaline will soon beckon.

Enjoy.
