Post by avus-RS4 » Sat Apr 14, 2007 3:37 pm

Afternoon all, i have a 2000 x reg rs4 b5 and i have just fitted the awe DTS to try to solve the knocking when changing gear. no joy, well some, its not all gone away, its less often. Audi cant find any worn bushes so Im at a loss.

Any suggestions?

Wha..? lost me there completely - gotta love a bit of jargon...

Ok - 'snub mount' is?...... (intuitively [context] I'm making the assumption that it's an engine mount that allows for some play in the engine itself, within the bay - in order to allow for some 'cush' effect ? (bit like a cush drive on a motorcycle drivetrain?) - but as a result can make performance changing a little sloppy??? (as it most certainly IS - particularly 1st to 2nd in anger I find) - is that even close?

Please advise - ta VM

Also.... a DTS? wassat?

Drive Train Staberliser (spelling?). This helps to minimise the "slop" when accelerating hard. Works well.........

MRC to help?

Post by avus-RS4 » Sun Apr 15, 2007 1:54 pm

as far as i can tell the snub mout in a mount at the front of the transmition in the engine bay that limits or reduce the drive train "shunt" when changing gear. there looks to be uprated bushes available and in the states they are $46.

I have asked mrc if they can supply/fit/adjust to reduce the shunt.
I never had it on my s2 avant or coupe, or my s4 avant, but did have it on the quattro coupe

Hopefully that will help, i'll post solutions as and when.

Blackb1ade, your in surrey, so am I!! mytchett to be precise near guildford. what RS you got?

I'm in Chertsey - and SNAP (I think) mines an Avus silver, 2001 (just had the MTM St3 done, loving it!!) I'm often in/around Guildford, can't miss the car, the plate is 'ARP'

:)
