Moaning and vibration when turning steering

Post by JustinM » Fri Feb 23, 2007 6:47 pm

When I start the car and slightly turn the wheel it has a moaning sound and a slight vibration.

Any ideas? Is it serious?

dont they all do that.... I think mine does to some extent.
It might be down to stress on the steering rack / pump cause wheels are static.

For the noise it is normal, many audi's do that but if you have vibration at start when the car is moving it could be a transmission shaft.

Power steering fluid was below dipstick level. Topped it up and all fine now.
