What do I buy next dilemma

Well, I've had the beast now for almost three years and thinking about a change.

Just what do you get after an RS4? It is such a practical car and so stealthy.

I suppsoe I could sell the current one and then buy a newer lower mileage model.

What has everybody else done or what would you do?

I'd say,turn it back into it's original state and sell it.

Buy a newer one with really low mileage and put the goodies back on.
Looks like the only wise thing to do.

I got an M3 CSL.

Despite similar-ish performance it's a totally different car to the RS4, and has its drawbacks, but it's very very special.

No regrets, although I loved my RS4.

I had 2 RS4, one for 3 years and the second one for 2 years and still in it , after testing the new S4 then RS4 B7 and then v10 S6, I totally lost faith in new Audi models, I mean, come on I got a car 6 years old and can match a Gallardo, Porsche or any new sport car, and what am I offered a lousy heavy atmosphere cars that are made for people who forgot what fun is to drive. IMHO
And more, I orders an M5, lets see what BMW is about.

1 year whit my RS4 and thats one of the best cars i have own and drive...

My dad have a Ferrari 360 and thats just breakfeast for me...
And so are some hi end racing bikes and so on...
RS4 (B5) is so fast (if you just modificat the car the right way)...

You are both dead right. The recent Vmax meet proved this.........I was only a few mph behind the two Lambo's and murdered all but one (DMS modified e60 M5) of the BMW's...a new M5, 4 M3 CSL's, Z4, Z3 etc etc and not to mention all the Porche's.

The B5 is certainly a hard act to follow.............

I am now having to sell my pride and joy as I have just bought a house. My friends brother in law is selling his S4 Avant so I am going to have that instead. Going to be a bit of a wrench to loose 115bhp, plus it feels a lot softer to drive. This may be a project car so a few extra horses and toys will be added soon.

Remember RS2 year 1993, 7 years after they released an RS4 what a huge difference, faster, nicer etc. And now what do we get B7 RS4? yahoo it looks nice but drives like sh... sorry for my emotions but I waited for a new RS4 so badly and now Audi made a car slower than 6 years ago.

Um, I know this is an Audi forum, but...

The B5 RS4 is great but it's not the only car in the world. After 3 years in the RS4 and now 3 months in the CSL, I have to say - the CSL is a better car. Just my opinion of course, but it's based on first hand experience.

Not saying this to upset any RS4 owners. More to encourage those who fancy a change - B5 RS4 is a tough act to follow but it can be done.

I guess your first hand experience does count. But the majority of Audi owners like the stealth approach and as you know it can be fun.

The BMW is not stealth at all. Ive driven The CSL and its very very qucik, due only partly to its slightly modified engine and mostly to it sheding a touch under 200KG. Torque remains just a very small fraction over the standard M3 being about 6 nm more and it only has about 17 horses or so more.

As an everyday car i dont think it fits the bill, and definitely hard to use as a family car.

As a car to track, and to have fun with, yes its unbeatable for value and bag and bags of fun. Id but one for just that factor, but as a family car and a day to day driver, for me, I couldnt do it.

The Audi RS4 is not the only car in the world as you say. A change to an RS6 would be nice (modded one maybe a stage 2 or 3 with a remapped gearbox would be nice). Also the New RS6 will be on its way. That will be seriously quick . I think it will be same as the S6 V10 5.2 with the exception of twin turbos and bags and bags of torque. Lets hope audi get it right this time but the way they are going i wouldnt be surprised if they shuv a v12 in there.

An S4 highly modded is a fun drive as well with its low end torque. A stage 3 wll out run most cars on the road. Fun to drive too.

Other nice cars are The BMW M5. Thats a seriously fun car, but again no stealth factor, unless debadged, but its not the kind of car you debadge.

If money is no object then a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S would be a qood car to try out. They are bloddy fast. My 350HP S4 was neck and neck with one the other day, and this wasnt even the S version. the S churns out 517HP and 720nm torque. More than most RS4's. Big car, lots of room, and takes bends like its on rails.

In the end you may decide to just get a lower mileage RS4. Thse engines are good for 250,000 miles so If i was you id keep yours. Get it modded for some serious power. Drop compression, decat, upgrade turbos and a few other bits (£10,000) and youll have yourself a serious 600HP beast that should keep you busy for at least a few more years.
