I assume you have no warranty to contend with if anything did go wrong your car?

In my opinion the recommended service schedules are just that recommened. Your timing belt is not going to snap 1000km after 60000km. There will be a reasonable level of safety factored into the service schedules. So if it was me I wouldn't worry. However, I never like to do a long trip in a car I know hasn't been checked over for at least the usual stuff. oil, water, tyres, brakes etc so at least check that lot over and deal with the belt and fluid changes when you get back.

I think you can go the 500km above the exact limit. BTW the car should tell you how many Km ITSELF thinks it will take till the next service. I actually found that mine wanted to be serviced BEFORE the official KM had been reached on the clock - and that's not because I drive too little km, it was just 5 to 10000km earlier.

However, you should go after your trip, don't make that 1000km above when the car computer says you should go, after all it starts warning you 2000km before it actually thinks it needs help.

Re: the long trip: I agree that a short inspection could be a good precaution, should take them 10-15minutes.
