Depends on how you drive , and what knid of use you put the car through.... road or track.
Mine are still going strong at 60K. You should be able to get data on the min thickness of the disc from your or local dealer.

Mine were replaced at 30k just before I bought it. They obviously hadn't done the miles but infrequent use is often just as damaging as they were badly glazed, piited and uneven in places even though the pads were quite good. Car had been back to Audi with complaints about squeeking brakes and the then owner had been told to try driving it properly to keep the discs in good nic :bigblink:

Strangely, I've had no such problems discs are shiney and clean and regularly run to a decent temperature :D

I got 65k out of mine, they were not to bad at that point, but then the car sat around and was not really driven for six months........ they became very badly rusted and ate most of the pads before they started to clean up. It seems that if you use the car on regular basis you wont have problems, leaving them sitting after being washed is not a good idea....

I can second that,.... regularly getting them nice and hot on a run, and taking the car for a good blast after washing will keep your rear discs nice and clean...
particularly good practice at present. with all the crap weather we have been having.

Using them regularly and aggressively from time to time keeps them in check much better then leaving them. I think I had to change mine at about 45K but it was because they had become rusty and glazed I guess I could have had them machined but I don't know of any local service.

Brooner has suffered the same with his rear disks as his car can sit for a 2-3 weeks at a time (always in a garage) but he has still seen quite a build up on them.
