470ish to 550ish - my options are?

Just be aware of whom you are buying these hybrids. you should be fine.
Talk to MTM. They make really strong cars.

I dont know a whole lot about how strong the RS4 internals are but I'd be looking at Head work - inc port matching to the inlet & exhaust manifolds. (have a chat to Mike at http://www.racing-green.com/swe/index.html about head work, he's a very clever guy). Fuel, I'd probs stick with the twin intercoolers but I'd sort some kind of water spray or CO2 kit for the intercoolers - vgood for hot days, especially if you are looking at draging etc to prevent heat soak while standing & waiting. Turbo's - I'd look into Garrett conversions but RS6 hybrids would probably be fine. If you end up running high boost, it might be worth looking at water injection too..

Skimmed not skinned you eget, Eh!flashyg wrote:flashyg wrote:I'm working towards the turbos, manifolds, fmic, fuel and head work.
I will soon get an fmic, just waiting for the reviews on the new mrc product.
I think fmic is the best up grade after full exhaust and chip.
Then when you need new turbos go hybrid and manifolds.
If you can afford it get the head skinned polished and ported and the inlet manifold and do the fueling up grade.
Ill get skinned if I don't stop logging on , back to work I think.

I would avoid C02 if possible - if it gets into your intake (and it probably will on the drivers side IC) you are going to have all sorts of problems. IC misting doesn't seem very popular for the S4/RS4 - not sure why tho, as on paper it has it's advantages.I'd probs stick with the twin intercoolers but I'd sort some kind of water spray or CO2 kit for the intercoolers

Nige, the CO2 systems I've seen used on the EVO's is a closed loop system with a cooled element mounted in front of the IC, this cools the air as it flows across it - they seem pretty good, a bit more main stream over in NZ where the weather's warmer though
No danger of it getting into the intake though - provided it's fitted correctly of course

That sounds good, do you have any more info on this .. a link, or possibly a UK supplier?Nige, the CO2 systems I've seen used on the EVO's is a closed loop system with a cooled element mounted in front of the IC, this cools the air as it flows across it - they seem pretty good, a bit more main stream over in NZ where the weather's warmer though No danger of it getting into the intake though - provided it's fitted correctly of course

Hey Nige, I've just double checked & there doesn't seem to be a closed system (don't see why it couldn't be done if someone wanted though) they basically get the temp drop by spraying liquid co2/nos onto the IC plates - this sucks the heat out of the system. here's a place what sells them in Aussy (http://www.alldayperformance.com.au/category144_1.htm) Cry02 seem to have a good name all over, though I've never used one personally.
If someone wants either big power or a perfect power curve/better intercooling how about spraying wet NOS into the inlet tract, it'll cool the charge nicely even if you don't use enough to cause big power gains. I have a mate who uses NOS on his Skyline in Auckland & it's mainly used to spool a HUGE turbo, it's mapped to tail off as the boost rises.. it's pretty swanky stuff & obviously does it's job well. NOS seems to have a bit of a bad/boy racer rep over here but like everything if it's done right & properly mapped with all the safety stuff in place it helps extract big, usable power.

Hey Clive, did you see my mate Rob, the guy with the Silver 996TT, that thing is quick also!
What did you max out at?

Erm.... there were quite a few silver 996's, so probably!
My vmax was 170. According to the "regulars" the constant 20mph headwind was costing them 5-10mph depending on the aerodynamics of the car compared to their normal Vmax achievement, so I'd hope for 175 on a less windy and colder day (ambient was up to 10degC - I think in November there was no wind and ambient was right down at a couple of degrees!).
