Re: Changing propshaft. Easy?
Easy enough . New bolts/ gaskets at either end and clean out the threads . You are supposed to mark the old one before removing and refitting . Also you need a brace ( there is a special tool) to keep the propshaft straight so it doesn't pugt to much stress on the middle bearing when removing / inst...

Re: Number plate light screws
Only info i could get is that its a filister head bolt M3 size . Nothing on length or thread pitch.
I used a phillips #1 bit on a very small ratchet to get mine open . Someone had already had a go on mine so the heads of the screws were in a bit of a state

Re: Changing cv boots.
Just to add a little to this one: I see in the Bentley Publications Service Manual for this that they say you can thread the big CV retaining bolt back into the joint itself and it's long enough to reach the end of the driveshaft and pop it out of the joint. No hammers involved. I haven't done this...

Re: Carbon clean
Just finished doing this myself. Car is much improved, noticable increase in top end power, but torque at very low revs as dropped. maybe all that carbon was creating a venturi effect ? Before starting the job,had a good search on the net ,but couldn't find any proper instructions,so had to take IT S...

Re: Helicoil brakes.
I have never had a problem with mine. Plenty of release oil soaking then gently drifting out from front to back with an appropriate drift. It's hard to see how they could seize to the point where they can't be drifted out. Also replace with liberal copper slip on the pins. Thanks . Mine are definit...

Re: Helicoil brakes.
Has anyone had the brake pad retaining pins seized? I have on the B7 at the moment and was thinking of what would be the best course of action ? Cut with a dremel on the insides first and try punching or drilling out ?
