I am kind of with the last post... Go see it with your eyes open and someone who has one/knows these cars.... Yes, they need a whole heap of maintenance and money but to drive them is to feel alive. With luck you may just get 20/30K miles of that for little money and that would be a huge win... Good...

...that was for the entire front setup but fitting by my specialist was a fair bit extra. There are some deals to be had via Audi and it is worth shopping around. Mine came from Germany when the €/£ was just too good to ignore for parts. Sadly that has gone now...

Pick up a decent car within your spec and DIY maybe?

Lots of good simple advice in the above posts already.. Key is to buy a good one and IMHO that means with all the bits already sorted that might go (DRC, Clutch, Oil cooler pipes).
