Re: 4.0TFSI Turbo failure

Thanks a lot guys for your info. Paul, presumably the latest strainer would be supplied then, meaning 2017 on? Do you know the difference between the 2015 FL strainer and the 2017 onwards? If this is the cause, then it's depressing news that something this small and relatively inexpensive can cause...

Re: 4.0TFSI Turbo failure

Fl (2015) has a revised strainer. Mine was a FL. I believe they changed the design again in 2017. Mine had full Audi SH but can’t remember what oil change intervals it had. Worrying trend for those out of warranty. Not a difficult job to change or remove the strained completely, although not a 2 min...

Re: 4.0TFSI Turbo failure

Sorry to hear. Pretty much guarantee it will be a blocked turbo supply oil screen. You must get it cleaned when you fit the turbos or they will just fail again.

Re: engine build 4.0 v8

The very reason I have moved away form big V8. way too much money and effort if when they go wrong. My turbos failed at 39k miles and trying to find turbos that did not empty my bank was difficult. If I had to put my car into the garage to fix I am sure I would have cost me the best part of £10k. Lu...

Re: 4.0TFSI Turbo failure

How do you find the RS3 compares to the S7 in the real world? Tempted a few times to trade in our Q5 for one- perfectly proportioned in the looks department as a saloon imo. S7 was slow and lazy. RS3 would dust it. RS7 was fantastic with great power. Real world they are like kangaroos and fish. Abs...

Re: 4.0TFSI Turbo failure

Just had an oil service and MOT done today at my Local uk Audi dealer (£173.09 all in for both- we supplied the oil). I am overseas at the moment but got my wife to query the dealer regarding the oil screen “issues” and with references to pictures in this post. They reluctantly acknowledged that th...

Re: 4.0TFSI Turbo failure

No failures so far in Europe with such example as yours, maybe your car was broken from a factory There has definitely been 2 in the uk. There is a youtube video about failures in a uk garage it but can’t find it currently. I still think there have been more failures in the uk just not documented a...

Do we think its lack of failures in the UK or lack of reporting? UK has different culture to the US.

4.0TFSI Turbo failure

Although I loved my RS7 (deffo best car I have ever owned) its crazy expensive if something engine wise goes wrong. Reading all the issues that are popping up on other forums. 2 that stand out. Turbo failures (over £3500 + Vat each) due to the Oil strainer blocking at as little as 40k miles and susp...
