For my last warranty claim under the Mondial cover, the dealer had to submit the evidence for authorisation to Mondial directly. I thought they only submitted the full diagnostics to Audi when the work is carried out as part of the original manufacturer's warranty... but maybe they do that regardles...

Definitely go for the Audi extended warranty if you can. I am not sure if you can add it if it's already expired, but certain it can be transferred once you have cover. I've had mine replaced under warranty... I was told they had to take off the front bumper to access it.

actually ignore that... i'm guessing we're talking about an estate here not saloon. not sure how the estate boot works. on the saloon the boot is opened by gas struts, so the pressure in them will vary with temperature. in the winter my boot hardly opens when i unlock it... in the summer it opens fu...

Interior trim is definitely not covered under the Mondial extended warranty (but may be covered under Approved Used warranty which is for the first year after purchase from Audi). Not sure if this gets classed as interior trim though.
