Re: Spare Wheel
I was driving the same route a week later. Massive crater in the outside lane of the entrance to Clyde Tunnel south to north. Can't exactly leap out and take photos. Probable culprit but couldn't prove it.

Re: Spare Wheel
Had the misfortune of feeling a tyre 'go' on the entry to the Clyde Tunnel. Had to drive through and stop at first available safe area. Rear offside had been cut in two circumferentially. Abandoned car: Sunday and snowing. Went back on Monday and jacked car on plastic jack and left overnight. Took w...

I'd recommend Audi Technik Centre. Owner previously headed service dept of Audi dealers at Braehead. They are currently in Bishopbriggs, moving to Dobbie's Loan central Glasgow in March.

Re: 18'' Rims any use for potholes?
Mmm, I had the Legacy Turbo Estate and traded for the 3 litre Outback. It was certainly smooth but not enough oomph. I have no idea how the more exotic supercars cope with the roads? These must be a magnet for front spoilers and low suspension arms. Most of the potholes are nearside and scaring the ...

18'' Rims any use for potholes?
I had the misfortune to tackle the narrow twisty section of the Loch Lomond road in the dark and wet last week. Two nearside and one offside crash as tyre and suspension met craters in the road. I'm on 19'' OEM rims and Billstein coilovers. Anyone changed from 19s to 18s and found it helpful? I have...

Re: Headlight seal
Mine does this if powerwashed or if water is sprayed directly at headlight. The other one is fine. Take the rubber gasket off the back and let it dry out. Add a hairdryer blast to the lens if you're keen. Mine is fine if no water blasted at it. Visual inspection shows no sign of a duff seal and the ...

Re: Radiator change
Mine needed done after low speed fender bender. Insurance job but I do not remember anything as steep as this. My recall was bumper, intercooler, rad and headlight under 3K. The rad was definitely not 700 with work.

Re: Is this safe to drive on
Nope. Set of for Unit 20 from Glasgow; had battered deep pothole from the bad 2010 winter with nearside front. En route the car was vibrating and mayhem. Pulled off the road and had a right good look. Couldn't see anything. It was the carcass of the tyre bashed and bulging from the trauma of the pot...

Re: RS6 C5 Undertray
I bought one from dealers a few years ago after heavy snow thinned and split mine.
As far as I remember there were two undertrays on offer ; I bought the heavy duty one and it was pretty substantial and thicker than previous item.

Re: C5 Gearbox problem
I had recon. gearbox installed by Mackies about five years ago. No problems with them. Not cheap, I think circa £6k plus the old box. The car was transformed: probably drove 10-15K with box on the way out. I've had one gearbox service from them since ( about £200?) not sure what they do apart from c...

Re: Another (slightly poorer) newbie
OK, I'll say it. I think the box is on the way out, I don't think a remap will help. Symptoms include clunky changes, thumping in to lower gear when slowing down and going in to limp mode. All symptoms worse when ambient temperature or engine temperature is low. Hope it's not that , but prepare for ...

Re: N. Ireland servicing
I would seriously suggest getting to Dublin and Liverpool for Unit 20. ( Wirral)
I do the round trip from Glasgow and have never felt the outlay on time/petrol was misspent.
