Re: Possible new purchase, pretty excited but advice needed

I am surprised that no one has mentioned MRC Tuning. They've looked after my car very satisfactorily for the last 5 years or so. They're in Banbury, so it depends where in the country you are located. I agree with what's been said about the thermostat - mine was done last year to resolve painfully s...

RE: New to this

I am very happy with having car serviced at MRC. And with their reputation I'm happy to have their stamps in the book too.

Yes, I've had this. Switch was "chattering" causing intermittent alarm triggering. Easy enough to disconnect the wire form the switch pending a new switch.

I had a similar loss of radio reception. Turned out to be a broken connection in the diversity unit which I managed to resolder. Now the diversity unit is a small box mounted on top of the CD changer chassis. Other stuff goes in there too, depending on spec (like TV) and splits/feeds ariel signal to...

Hmmmm, didn't see the thread had re-started. Same thing, VAG com showed that with bonnet closed, the switch was "chattering" open/closed/open and so on, hence the intermittent nature of the problem. With the switch disconnected signal is permanently "closed" so I have a temporary solution. Your desc...

It's the "Submit" button that does it. I swear the beep beep thing triggered the very second I submitted the last post. And now the single flash has become a delayed feature rather than almost immediate.

I reckon a trip to find a VAG Com assessment is probably my next step.

WD40 seems to be the answer. I have got the single flash back when the system arms, and it has been active now for about 30 mins without a false alarm. I really shouldn't be writing this until tomorrow as it had been taking between 2 minutes and 24 hours for the false alarm to trigger, so it might b...

Thanks Mike. I haven't got VAG Com, but have had a look. I can see the switch, and the wires, but not how it is activated. I may well try some WD40 next, before disconnecting it. Oh, and have a proper look in daylight.

RE: Help! Still trying to replacing Head/side light bulbs!

There's another screw at the bottom of the unit, on the inboard side. A bit fiddly to get to, and I have used a telescopic magnet to lift the screw once it's fully released. Finally, as I remember, there's a kind of spigot (I think that's the technical term) on the outside of the unit, that locates ...

Alarm Not Working Correctly

Today I came back to my car to find the alarm siren sounding and the hazard lights flashing. I now notice that the hazards do not flash as they should when the doors are locked (alarm activated). I have checked that all four doors and the rear door all operate the interior lights correctly, when bei...

It must be a 23rd September feature; mine was flat yesterday too! And as it's less than 2 years with old "no previous" I was surprised. Car had only stood 2 days since it had a fairly decent outing. As far as I can see nothing left on and no TV, though it does have Nav+, but will see if it repeats n...

RE: Radio problem

I posted a similar problem a few months back and recommendation was to check the diversity unit (a search will find threads and photos that show where it sits etc.) In my case the input terminal had broken away form the PCB and I was able to do some soldering. You need a very small torx bit to open ...

My B5 RS4 had mudflaps when I bought it (2003) and still has. When I posted piccies the comments came back that they look rubbish. Plus, the car gets extremely dirty so I can't imagine they do any good whatsoever.

The article is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. My initial searches found very little of help (before my first posting) but with encouragement and being a bit more creative on the search topics I had got to the point where I knew the article was out there, and was just about to go to Audiworl...

Leaking ScreenWash Reservoir

Any views on removing or replacing the screenwash reservior. Or getting to inspect the various connections. Is it straightforward, and how best to do it? I have just failed to top it up! Fluid is running right out as fast as I can fill. It is running out of the louvre vents in the wheelarch liner an...
