RE: K&N Induction kit

What do you mean - UNLIKELY? You think i'm making this up for a giggle? Listen guys. These are the facts for my car. PAnel filter made car smoother, quicker and added a nice noise. Full induction kit made very considerable increases in speed on road. Have run aftermarket filters on four cars over fi...

RE: K&N Induction kit

There's no heat shielding but they leave the original air feeder in place (the one that goes from under the audi badge in to the engine compartment) The head of the filter is right next to that, so air intake temps aren't bad WRT power output, they use a new 4 wheel rolling road (ProDrive use the sa...

RE: K&N Induction kit

The rs4 one is out, i believe. And the S4 one designed today won't be far behind, i wouldn't have thought (as it is identical) It is their 57i induction kit - silicone hose with big conical air filter on the end :) ATB

Big gains from K&N intake today

I have just returned from an appointment with K&N R&D today. They have recently delveloped an induction kit for the RS4 and we wondered whether it would offer similar gains on S4 (RS4 gains were around 8hp) So they tested my car which is stock, engine-wise, apart from running a K&N panel filter inst...

Brake upgrade feedback FYI

Hi there everybody :) Just for your information, to help any new people thinking about brake upgrades: I needed new pads and generally a brake service. My disks were thin and cracking, my rear calipers weren't moving off the disk freely etc etc. I have always used EBC Greenstuff pads because i love ...

IK22s have smaller gap, by the way. It's a normal 0.8mm gap, unlike the IK20's 1.1mm (.03 and.04ish respectively)

Well I'm certainly decided: Full exhaust from Milltek asap. 30horses more, a bag of extra torque, no increased reliability risk, minimal labour and almost best of all - the most orgasmic exhaust rumble/roar/howl ever :D

That's really helpful, thanks :) Seems uneconomical to me. I think I'll put the exhaust on first, keep changing the oil every 3k miles and hope the turbos last. When they eventually fail, I'll obviously have no choice but to spend the money so i'll go for K04s at that time. In fact, I might go for t...

how much to remove and refit turbos?

Hi guys :) I'm thinking of having my turbos reconditioned by turbo technics. They want £200 per turbo which seems fine to me. The problem is that Audi have quotes £1000 for labour to remove them and refit them. Seems a bit off to me....does anyone here have any ideas/experience as to how much i shou...

Consider, also, that you can have leather of any sort fitted aftermarket. I did it on my dad's allroad and it was just perfect. Cost £1000+VAT. Planning on getting M3/Boxster ruby red leather in my cloth S4 asap, too :)

Spark plug comments

Hi guys :) Just some thoughts on spark plugs for S4 I realised it was time for scheduled plug change and that they would be pretty nasty after 40k miles. I did some reearch on various forums and found that stock plug is NGK's PFR6Q which is a doubleplatinum plug (both electrodes are platinum) and th...

jerking on off

Hi there. :) I came across this recently too. I had a puncture on an aftermarket 18" rim Removed the wheel and put the 17" stock Avus spare on, with the same wheel bolts from the 18" wheel. Try to drive off and wheel is locked solid. Work out that aftermarket bolts are longer and seize hub/brakes. R...

Xenon auto-levelling problems

Hi people, I'm hoping you can help me with a problem with my S4 headlights. :) My left Xenon headlamp is adjusting itself right down low. It used to happen pretty rarely but is becoming more insistent. It happened both before and after I had the car lowered. That was some time ago. Seems worse when ...
