is the SMG box really that bad? I'd have thought it would be okay - though I've not actually driven a recent SMG yet. The gransports Cambiocorsa (F1 box out of the F430) is odd at first but once you get used to it is both rapid & easy to live with so I gues the question is - bad or just not used to ...

what ever you do don't just take the cheapest option.. I had the main dealer leave a bolt in the timing covers & write the car off as a result
