RE: Re: RE: rs4 whats it worth
Here in the real world you refer to the power of influence has a significant bearing on the values of other people's property. When a high proportion of potential buyers are on the receiving end of such ill-informed (you refer to knowledge of selling prices of two cars, one of which was yours so doe...

RE: Re: RE: rs4 whats it worth
As lengster says, these old heaps are virtually worthless. You only have to drive one to realise that they weren't built to last and are frankly nothing special with no hope of ever becoming rare and collectable (bear in mind that the factory churned out literally hundreds of the things and it hardl...

RE: diesel (yes i did say diesel)
I have a B5 2.5 TDi quattro. I had similar concerns but have not experienced any of the much-advertised issues. The cam wear issue is apparently largely due to the oil pumps delivering lower than ideal pressure/supply to the top of the engine at low revs and the lazy nature of the engine means you c...

I am in the process of having my soft wheels replaced with a hard set. Audi UK have confirmed there will be no charge providing there is no kerb damage (how kerb contact distorts the inner edge of the wheel is unclear?). They clearly scrutinise the history of the car and try to offer as little as po...

RE: My mates selling his 2001 RS4
I think the standard responses here are "it's too expensive" "there's another for sale for 10p" etc. And then if that doesn't drive values down enough then a few horror stories about camshafts and gearboxes should do the trick. Unfortunately, the reality is that if you are selling your RS4 then your...

So he's had it for five days? Is this something to do with today's date?

Re: Fuel
Only 72 days before the Euro Trip! Minimum of 1800 miles, plus The Ring, plus numerous goes on the Stelvio, equals mucha gasolina! No chance of 22mpg coz 'Captain Slow' I'm not. Perhaps Audi will let us fill up at their factory pump???? It would be a good idea to check that the Stelvio has re-opene...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Carbon buildup update
I ought to go on confused.com. Is it a fact that all FSI engines suffer from this type of carbon build up? and no one has noticed this before because there has been no significant power loss or any other engine problem to warrant opening it up and thus seeing the build up. I am not an engineer. Thi...

I do not believe that an excessive build-up of debris on the inlet valves of this engine will have no effect on engine performance when the throttle is wide open and the engine is operating at maximum speed. My initial post in this thread was to question a post stating otherwise. The engine is attem...

The issue of debris build-up on the valves makes no difference whatsoever and the people who build these engines are wasting their time with innovations such as multi-valves, variable lift, sand-casting, etc when an opening the size of a pin-prick would suffice. A piston dragging air (ie hugely vari...

Nonsense. A restriction is a restriction, whether it be at the air filter, throttle, manifolds, valves, catalysts or exhausts. A build-up of debris on the valve will restrict the airflow and thus the density of the combustion mixture. For maximum power it is important that everything functions as i...

the engine will take the same amount of air with or without obstruction... it's the throttle that limits airflow, nothing else...it is so much larger than the valves it feeds it they have little influence, or in control valve terminology, 'throttling' range... if the valve orifice x lift were restr...

if the DP increases across the valve face, just crack the throttle a tad more, problem solved...the throttle is oversized, that's why they have a rev limiter, because the throttle is NOT the limiting factor...but that is moot, because you are pumping (drawing) into a closed system with a positive d...
