I've had this happen to me too. Probably only 5 or 6 times in over a year and it's not done it for the last few months. It only ever happened in the same place on my regular journey back from work, after 15 mins on a dual carriageway I'd turn off left at a roundabout. It was always while acceleratin...

You have a stuck valve! They should both be open with the engine off - I checked mine this morning just to be sure.

Yeah, I didn't think the diagram told the full story though, there's got to be a similar mapping to the RS4. The valve must open up again at higher revs otherwise it's only open between tickover and 1700rpm - which seems mad! How much driving is done between these limits - idling, pulling away ... a...

Not sure about that statement, this is from the RS4 thread: Non Sport mode: exhaust flaps stay shut until 5,000k rpm in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear. exhaust flaps stay shut until 4,500k rpm in 4th, 5th, 6st gear. throttle 50-60 % open till 5,500 rpm in 1st, 2nd, 3rd throttle 100% open 0-8,250 rpm in 4th, 5th...

Mine does it too, it's been doing it for a year but not getting any worse.

I've heard of a couple of folks having the tensioners replaced under warranty. I attempted this before mine ran out ... to no avail.

I can't see it causing any long term problems.

We had this problem on my wife's A2 after I borrowed it for a day, the light came on when I floored the throttle with a cold engine, this over-fuels the engine and puts slightly more unburnt fuel into the exhaust system where it's picked up by the emissions sensor. The ECU on the A2 resets this faul...

Anyone got to the bottom of this one yet?

With the recent "damp" weather I'm able to confirm that mine does it in the wet too. I'd not made the connection with rain thus far. I really only notice it when swinging into parking spaces on tight lock.

The Audi stealer told me that the front wheels can foul the inner wheel arch on full lock. Not something I've noticed but I do have an occasional "clattering" sound from the front suspension/steering during low speed manoeuvres on a tight lock. (Naturally I've been unable to reproduce this noise for...

Went for the Warranty Direct policy in the end - £650 for 13 months.

Should ensure a fault free 13 months!

Extended warranty from Audi

Just coming up to the end of my 3 year Audi warranty and considering buying an extended warranty from Audi for another 12 months peace of mind. They want about £1200 for 12 months with a 15K mileage cap. Doesn't seem too bad considering (from previous experience with fast Audis) that it seems to cos...

I had the very same whining from cold (2004 car). Had the pulley belt TSB fix doneby Audi under warranty ... and it made no difference whatsoever! Still whines loudly until warmed up a bit - about 5 mins. Annoying because it doesn't sound right. It's a big job, whole front end removed to gain access...

How much did it cost you to replace the Symphony II with the RNS-E nav system?

Was it a DIY job?

You're not alone. I felt exactly the same way when I picked up my S4 in August - 2nd and 3rd being particularly stiff making quick changes tricky .... although sometimes it goes in sweet as a nut. To be honest, after 3 months I don't really notice it so much, I think my gearchanges have become more ...

Yep - tried the TP button thing a while ago and it does nothing!

That's when I thought that I may have Audiopilotand it's either switched off or knackered.

Sounds like a dealer job.

GALA/Audiopilot control

I have a 2004 S4 with a Symphony II head unit and Bose. The speed sensitive volume doesn't appear to be working, my previous car was a '97 2.8 Avant where it worked perfectly. Not sure whether I have GALA or the Bose Audiopilot but I've read that it is possible to disable the volume control and I ca...
