Re: RS6 Timing belt replacement DIY
Superb writeup - thanks for sharing. I last did this on an A6 2.8 v6 which was a fair bit easier. From what I remember I opened the lock carrier right up at one side so I could get proper access to the timing gear - is that possible on the '6? A lesson I learned when doing this on another car - chec...

Re: What have you replaced
Late to the party but I found threads like this useful when I bought the '6 so I'll add my 2p. I told myself that I would buy carefully and maybe pay a bit of a premium but look after it and hopefully it would reward me with lower running costs. Perhaps that has been true to a degree but there is no...

Re: And so it begins!
P.S. good luck with those jobs - these cars appreciate being kept in top condition and examples with 'everything right' are hard to come by these days. Most are probably on here.

Re: And so it begins!
Mine are in about the same condition as yours. I was going to get some stickers but would be interested in seeing your results. Without being modest: is it a case of being patient and taking care, or more of a specialist skill? The closest I've been to painting anything on any of my cars is spraying...

And about £90 to replace IIRC. You'd need to be a 'no codes' perfectionist to justify that.
Sensor is G238, part no 4B0907659A

Re: Newbie, and does anyone know this car?!
Slightly off-topic. I have an OU03. Assumed that it was just a normal geographic identifier (e.g. this link indicates that OU = Oxford).

Re: COOLANT LEAK PUZZLE HELP REQUIRED
Late to thread but if you suspect you're losing coolant through the reservoir cap then try tying a plastic bag to the overflow pipe with a cable tie, ensure correct coolant level, then take the car out for a beating. Easy way to determine if it's the cap or something else. Even if there's no big pre...

Re: Skim 390mm discs
My advice: if you're going to skim, then get it done on the car by Procut or whoever. I had my previous discs milled (off the car) by someone with a reputation for getting these things right. All the tolerances were spot on, tested both when mounted by the bell and the outside rim ... but the end re...

Per title, yesterday morning. R66 plate and a bit of a dint on the rear offside arch. I followed you in to the car park (with Seat Ibiza stealth).
Lousy parking, unless you're gonna claim that it was to avoid a matching dint on the nearside!

Very funny thread. I used mine back in 2010 some time and I have only just managed to tuck it back in. Looking promising now though.

Re: B5 RS4 on 'RS04' plate, Oxford
Sorry slobber, total fail on B7 recognition. Thought it was in good nick for a B5 - reassuring to have such astute detective work on the forum though. Yeah, picked the car up from MRC (its natural habitat) that day and thought I'd 'nip' into Oxford so the wife could do a bit of shopping (much as Ban...

Re: c5 allroad
I've had a '54 plate 2.5TDI for about three years. Air suspension was fine when I bought it but has caused no end of trouble since and still isn't right: a complex system with many components that tend to fail at the same time (e.g. leaky airbags cause wear on the compressor and the valve block). I ...

Waved to you at a zebra crossing: I was in the Daytona RS6 (en route back from MRC, as is often the case). Would have stopped for a natter but I don't think the ladies would have been impressed with the car talk!

Re: anyone been to nurburgring with rs6
Screw the arb. Update your pads and fluid else you will have no brakes after 3miles +1, though I did it with nearly new stock pads and racing blue fluid. Brakes behaved but after two laps she was ready to melt so needed to pootle around for half an hour just to bring everything down to a sane tempe...
