The trouble is, its rubber so it can flex and I thought the paint would crack.

Rubber Strip.
On my car I have a black rubber strip down the side (see pic)
I am just wondering if I could take it off and leave it or would I have to replace it with a colour coded one or something.

Any help would be appreciated.
