Yep, £350 is about what I got quoted through VAG Parts for a new unit. Re-coding of the alarm fob is then required on top of that. I appreciate that there are quite a few different part numbers out there for CLPs. I've managed to source just the graphite parts for the particular CLP unit I've got fo...

Thanks for the advice. Will either pick up another pump from a breakers yard or just source the graphite internals separately. Electric windows etc. now working again since plugging the pump back in! Best news of the day is that I've booked in to have an FMIC fitted at MRC in Jan, along with a few r...

Re: RE: Fun with electrics!
That'll be the reason why then! I assume that when I've replaced the graphite internals of the CLP and plug it all back in, that I'll have full use of my electrics once again? Will there be any fault codes generated as a result of this?Virdee Autos wrote:This all works through the CL pump.

Fun with electrics!
My central locking pump failed recently. I pulled it out of the boot and opened up the unit on Friday, only to pour the shattered graphite impeller parts out onto a piece of paper!! I'll be getting that sorted shortly then! However, a couple of side effects have manifested themselves as a result of ...

Thanks for the FATS times Nige. Yeah, a bit slower than expected TBH. The car isn't quite right at the moment. Could be lambda / MAF related I guess, needs a little work to get it right again. Spoke to Doug at MRC earlier about all of this and will be booking the car in for FMIC (probably), lamdas, ...

So, from these results: - Peak boost appears to be about 1.1-1.2bar @4500-4800rpm - Boost at red-line is around 0.6-0.7bar - Ignition advance is doing a lot of the work in the second half of the RPM range (MRC custom map) - MAF of 252g/s is lower than expected (hoping for 265g/s based upon most rece...

Shaky low RPM acceleration & VagCom near Bristol
Hi there, Acceleration on my MRC tuned S4 at low rpm & low throttle position is occasionally a bit shaky / jerky in 1st and 2nd gear at the moment. I commute 20 miles each way to work, quite a bit of it in traffic and a fair bit at a steady 40mph in 5th gear. I wonder whether the car just needs a go...

Nurburgring ticket - 1 lap left!
I've just returned from the Nurburgring and have an 8 lap ticket with 1 lap left on it, worth around £13. It's valid until 31st December this year, so only useful if you're heading out there in the next month or so.

New pads: MRC RS6 brakes on B5
The pads on my MRC fitted RS6 front brake setup need replacing. As far as I understand it, the setup includes RS6 calipers (with the extra cross braces on the back), RS6 discs but RS4 pads?
Can anyone confirm which pads I need to get hold of....RS4 or RS6 (or are they the same?!). Thanks

I got a quote from VAG Parts this morning on some new pads and discs for my B7 RS4 brake setup (on a B5 S4): Pads: £185.97 + VAT + shipping (full set, 8 pads) Discs: £259.32 + VAT + shipping (for each disc) Total (incl. VAT + shipping): ~£840 Thankfully I only need pads but fitting the whole lot you...
