RE: vag com

Since you know who made the lead, why not just go to the source for the driver?

Uwe scratches his head. We're not aware of any issues inherent in VAG-COM or the KEY-USB interface that would cause this. Dhali and Graham S4: Please e-mail me with as much detail as possible. Include the serial number and firmware version of your KU (serial number is on the label, firmware version ...

Is communications stable with the other systems in your car (Engine, ABS, Instruments, etc?). I.e. is the airbag module the only one that gives you problems, or are you having issues with all the systems in the car? Here's a bunch of things to look at: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_2.html#2.5...

RE: Oil pressure logging

I doubt the car actually has an oil pressure sensor. It likely only has a couple of on/off switches which are used by the instrument cluster to determine that the pressure is sufficient.

RE: which one?

A KEY-Series interface will work for the B5 and the Polo. But if you're thinking of upgrading to a B7, then you'd be better off getting a HEX+CAN now 'cause it will work with all of them. The Micro-CAN interface is not suitable for any of the cars you're contemplating. USB vs. COM: COM is slightly m...

I was put eoff by them being in the states and ordered in the UK. Ended up taking 6 months to get delivery as the company went bust etc etc... it was only RossTech themselves that saved the day after I contacted them. Turns out I paid £100 more for the privelidge of buying in the UK too... silly er...

Where / when did you buy it? E-mail us with the particulars. Note, Monday is a holiday here in the USA.

What kind of interface is it?

Does the LED light up when you plug it into the car?

MAF readings at idle are not very useful. The peak value at full power is far more telling.

RE: Version 704 out now!

I've got the latest version, and it seems to be missing "titles" above the boxes when using the Measuring Blocks section. For example when I was trying to look at potential mis-fires on blocks 14, 15 and 16 there were not titles abopve the rows of boxes...whereas there were on the previous version ...

RE: How do you know what "Group" to look at?

If you're using a current version of VAG-COM, chances are good you could use Advanced Measuring Blocks and get a handy list like this: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/screens/606/adv-meas-blocks-select.png But it would help in any case if you told us what car you had and what the part number o...

Post up the complete code please. There's a handy Copy Codes button on the Fault Codes screen, and a Copy button on the AutoScan screen. I've heard that the USB version can be registered for use on multiple laptops, but the serial version requires a new key from Ross Tech for each PC (=hassle if you want to use it with more than one machine or if you get a new laptop). That is not correct. All KEY and HEX series interfaces act as a ...

The firmware does a lot more than just the licensing. It buffers data, it converts data to CAN format, etc.
