Re: RS2 - Clutch kit and syncros \ collar (need replacing)

Hi John,

I recommend visiting the S2Forum. This site gets lot's of traffic and has more useful information.
For parts, I would speak to Ben at Coventry TPS.

Re: New Owner

The green springs are most likely H&R RS2 springs.

Re: Turbo boost problem from a newbie

I suggest you post your problem on the S2Forum. You may get some more advice there.
Otherwise, as PhilT says take it to MRCTuning or Cockings Motor Repairs.

Re: Freshen up suspension

Third best handling improvement after poly bushes and Mance Pro-Mounts is fitting a Neuspeed Rear Anti-Roll Bar. This will reduce body roll and more importantly seriously reduce the standard RS2's tendency to under-steer. You will not be disappointed with this mod, even if you stick with OEM springs...

Re: Freshen up suspension

Yes, there will be a very minor amount of additional transmitted vibration, not noise into the cabin. If you're staying OEM on dampers and springs, I dare say you may not even notice. Either way the improvement in handling is well worth it. The other 'Must have' is buy and fit a set of Mance's Pro-M...

Re: Freshen up suspension

I recommend you fit poly bushes all round. They will last (and last) and tighten up the handling.
They're also much easier and quicker to fit vs. OEM bushes.

It's also likely you need a new set of dampers all round, if they've not been changed.

Re: Thumping and Groaning

Not sure about the clutch sound, but your groaning from the rear is from your rear diff.
My car currently makes this sound, exactly as you describe

You can have the backlash adjusted which will stop the car from making these noises.
AFAIK the diff needs to be removed to do this.

I called Michelin - as suggested, they were very helpful. The PS3 225/45 R17 91Y is 'designed' for 7.5" width, the range but is rated for range of 7-9.5" at 1230kg/axle. I went over the possible requirement for XL loading, and he said that it's not needed - the rim is wide enough at 7". Reassuringl...

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric are fantastic....check out old posts on them.... Yes, they are very good for most of the year - but not in the winter. Downright dodgy on ice and very slushy snow. Also Michelin Pilot Sport 3 are now out and are a newer tyre, but no personal experience. F1's still my cu...

Hi Graham,

Main dealer or your local TPS for these parts.

Worth ensuring that the rear side also gets painted to slow down the eventual corrosion. Get in touch with Ben S2 Avant on the S2forum for some keen pricing from his TPS.

Yes the Bilstein option is a good one. I have been running them with RS2 H&R springs and find it a very nice and comfortable setup. A bit more care required when passing over speed bumps but worth it for the feel.
