(P.S. to BenCole45, of course it is reasonable to compare a modded S4 to a stock M3. This is a real-world discussion, not an Audi vs BMW discussion). Just different perspectives I supppose. The mitigating factor that makes the discussion more valid than your usual modded vs standard comparison (whi...

RE: S4 vs M3
What about a standard B5 S4 against an E46 M3? I would have thought the M3 would win comfortably.
I don't really think a modded car against a standard car is a valid comparison.

RE: Looking for newish S4... auto vs manual???? Any advice?
I wouldn't have said attention would be much of a problem in any A4 based car as they all pretty much look the same including S4/RS4. I picked Nogaro blue to help differentiate my car from cooking models, but it still attracts nowhere near the attention my Boxster did. Personally I wouldn't go auto ...

Interesting on that thread the claim "the front end is too heavy" referring to the S4. I've read in numerous places that the 4.2 V8 is no heavier than the 2.7 TT in the outgoing S4 mainly due to the aluminium block IIRC. Or are people just referring to the fact that the Avants heavier rear end cance...

Difficult. I've never owned either but drove both in deciding my new car. I went for the S4 because it is a newer car and generally felt the bettern all rounder and more sensible thing to do. Plus I'm not big on estates. I sold my 2002 Boxster S and the age was starting to bother me, worrying about ...

Necessary cabling for Phatbox?
I'm buying a 2004(04) S4 saloon. It has the symphony in dash 6 cd changer, but I'm thinking of getting a Phatbox.
Question is, will the S4 already have the cable for a changer going to the boot or glove box already?
Can anybody help?

RE: Hi-Fi questions
Cheers Mark, can it play files burned onto a disc?
Pete, I think you've missed my point. 1 cd of CDA/WAV files is 80 mins max. 1 cd of MP3 could easily be 10 times as much.
I've grown used to having 50+ albums at my fingertips when driving.
