Hi Jonny - spookily enough I have just sold my S6 to the conversion guys in Knebworth, Hertfordshire. There was a small problem with the emulators and it cost £400 to put right but that was after 5 years of trouble free running. The car always performed well on LPG and was true to her 160 mph on the...

Which engine oil to choose

Now that my S6 is 6 years old, I have a local garage service the car and not the rip-off Audi dealer.

So what oil should I use in place of the £5000/l stuff Audi sell? Also, can I, should I change the G/Box ATF?

Thanks

Hiya Mark 1. The fuel gauge shows the petrol tank levels as the car needs to start on petrol and then switch to LPG - it does this automatically. The LPG has a separate guage which is an electronic one with a series of green lights which go out until there is a red one - then you are near empty. 2. D...

DISKS and PADS

My brake warning light has come on and it is the front pads. Shall I replace them with AUDI original or use green stuff like on my other cars?

RE: S6 on LPG

Yep - I do - just returned from france with an mpg of 45 taking into account the cost/litre. I have a PRINS system - http://www.prinslpgnetwork.com/index_old.html This is excellent with no loss of acceleration and will do 200 miles to a tank of LPG. Serving is £70 pa and I am very pleased. My S6 is ...

Front suspension Knock

Hiya - my 2002 S6 had this and also on braking. It was the anti-rollbar bushes which come on the arm so they had to be replaced as well. CLIVE.

S6 - RS6 Alloys and Tyres

HELP PLEASE. The Proxies on my S6 are nearly on the wear bars so I must change them now. They are 255.40.ZR.17 and I want to go up to the 18" RS wheels. Should I go for 255.35.18 which will give the same rolling radius and if so, is there an offset problem please? The alloys that I have seen are at ...

Wiper Linkage - S6 2002

Right - the wiper linkage has seized on my S6. It was a bugger to get out - had to un-bolt it from the motor - 2 hours of fiddling around.

The first question is, where can I get a replacement other than the stealer
The second question is, has anybody else done this job themselves?

Thanks

RE: Cambelts

Hiya - see my post. DON'T leave it to 74K get it done sooner or you could have a very expensive replacement engine.

Overall cost with the longlife service £1600. All the cambelt parts were £600!

RE: Whizzing Zuzzing noise

Well - no one knew! It was the viscous coupled fan! BUT beware, she has done 70K miles and Audi recommend a cambelt change at 74K. Having to have the front of the car off to do the viscous fan, I decided to have the cambelt changed - damn good job too. The main tensioning wheel was about to collapse...

Whizzing Zuzzing noise

Help. Has anyone had or developed a whizzing zuzzing noise as the revs go up? Firstly I thought that it was a gearbox problem but it happens when stationary and as you increase the revs so the pitch of the noise rises. All belts seem OK. It is the sort of noise that may sound like a leaf being held ...

Yep I would suspect the suspension arm bushes which is what happend to mine. The bushes are an integral part of the arms so you have to buy the whole lot. I got my local VW dealer to fit them at half the price of the Audi dealer in Bishops Stortford.
