Wanted picture of detail near left side Auxiliary radiator

I am replacing a faulty left hand (passenger side) Aux rad on my B7. Having stripped the bumper off to start the work it is obvious that the car has had work done in that area in the past and has not been repaired properly. There are cracked and missing plastic fittings which need replaced. I can id...

Re: Sump plug and washer issues

Hi, I had a similar problem. After several attempts with alternative sump plugs and copper washers I finally fixed it by using a PTFE plastic washer of the correct size. It is softer than copper but is temperature stable. I could not see any evidence of damage to the sump threads or surrounds, but t...

Re: Fresh Paint and Stage 2 from MRC

Hi again,
Those measurements would be useful as a starting point.
Do you know how many mm lower than standard the H&R springs are?
Thanks

Re: Fresh Paint and Stage 2 from MRC

Hi JimBob,
If you still have the Konis with standard RS4 springs on your car can you tell me what the height from the ground to the center of the wheel arch is on front and rear?
I want to get a feel for the amount of ground clearance I would have if I went that route.
Thanks

Re: Help needed to resolve a leaking clutch slave to metal pipe joint.

An update to this saga. Thinking my clutch problem was solved I reassembled the car. After running the engine for 20 minutes and dipping the clutch several times it suddenly went to the floor. I discovered the metal pipe had popped out of the plastic fitting in the slave cylinder under pressure whic...

Re: Exhaust flexi replacement

Hi, I had 2 wrecked flexi couplings on an RS4 I bought recently which had been lowered too much and was grounding on speed bumps. I went through all the options too including the Audi price shock! In the end I used a local specialist called Stainless Creations in Falkirk, Scotland, who replaced both...

Re: Brake pad sensors

For those experiencing pad warnings intermittently. The most likely problem is dirty connector pins on the connectors at each front wheel. The system is very simple. There is a power feed via a pull up resistor in the dash panel on the yellow wire on the passenger side and both sensors in the pads (...

All you need is in the picture below.
When buying a used one make sure the part number is exactly the same.
If I remember correctly a new one was £650+!
Good luck

Re: Bill 17 hours to replace control arms

Hi, I have done a few A4, S4, A6 and RS6 front suspension changes as a DIYer. It takes about 3 hours per side IF the pinch bolts come out. If they don't move and you do not have any of the expensive tools to attempt removal then I had to cut the upper arms and get the upright out. Then you have to w...

Re: Help needed to resolve a leaking clutch slave to metal pipe joint.

Just to close this one off. There is quite a lot of info out there on the 3 types of coupling the various VW/Audi models use. Mine just used the rubber nipple in the kit. The rubber used in the kit from Audi is quite hard and it can be difficult to push the fitting home. Aftermarket equivalents are ...

Re: WANTED REAR COIL SPRING(s)

There are some used singles and pairs on ebay. Give it a try.
I just got a good used set of 4 RS4 standard springs off there.
Good luck.

Re: Help needed to resolve a leaking clutch slave to metal pipe joint.

I have resolved the pipe connection problem now. But now I am having a real issue replacing the slave cylinder while the gearbox is still on the car. I have followed the Elsawin guide for replacing the slave cylinder but cannot get the slave to fit into position. Anyone had similar problems or hints...

Re: WANTED wheel for 2002 S4, B6

Hi Ian, A message to close this one off. The wheel has arrived and is exactly what I wanted. It is tidy enough to use as a spare with no bad scratches, dings or kerb rash. The tyre has never been on the road and there is no sign of rubber degradation, probably because it has spent all the time in th...

Re: WANTED wheel for 2002 S4, B6

Hi again, Yes I bought the wheel off Ebay. The seller didn't want to organise shipping so I sorted that out. I was surprised how many couriers said they would not transport wheels and tyres. In the end I used Parcel Hero who organised the pick up and also provided labels on collection. The wheel is ...

Help needed to resolve a leaking clutch slave to metal pipe joint.

It is a long story but I bought my RS4 just after the clutch had been replaced, I think by a local non Audi specialist garage. Whoever did the clutch did not do a good job. The slave is a plastic one and is supposedly new. The joint between the slave and the metal pipe going into it was leaking quit...
