Good to hear reputable DIY options are working for those comfortable with this approach. Via Dealer also doesn't seem extortionate for peace of mind either. I need to focus on buying one first, but good to know adding CarPlay is easily done, one less thing to think about.

This may, or may not, help. Check out a very recent YouTube video from VolksWizard. Shows how to update MMI for C7.5 variants for free. I’ve just done mine this way.
