Re: New owner - Which oil please,no arguements :-) just adv

Forgot to say you need 8.5 litres for a full oil change. That's interesting as the RS4 is 9.4 (ish) and as far a I am aware the only difference is the fragile front mounted cooler. So less than a litre lurking around in there. It is approx 9.4 litres. I have never had much changed out of 10 litres....

Re: Re-mapping ? Where to go

What other mods have you done? To get the most out of a map some changes to the exhaust system is recommended.

Re: Fuel consumption

Agreed. MW cruising 70-80 will easily yield 24mpg. That will include several WOT moments and the odd blast beyond 3 figures. The above without WOT and 3 figures will get me 26mpg tops.

Re: New discs

I depends if you can be @rsed. By that I mean if you can be bothered to drill out every hole after they are filled because they will get clogged up. I've got a set of grooved and drilled and have never drilled out the holes.

Re: Oil Leak from Timing Chain Cover - Engine Out

It could well be the valve cover gasket. There are know to leak. Make sure that they rule this out as a root cause before they pull your engine.

Re: oil Consumption?

Oil consumption is dependant on many factors... Oil age and type, driving style, usage... In general, most cars on 10w30 oil shouldn't use much in the first 5000 miles. Then as the polymers break down the viscosity will drop so oil usage will slowly increase. Something like 0.5-1 litre in 5000-7500...

Re: Battery drain ?

If you fitted a new battery and that has gone flat then the only culprit is the alternator

Re: Horrible Grinding Noise........

Try and find someone with a code reader. If something is going to terminally go wrong or something minor is amiss it will throw fault codes.

Re: Horrible Grinding Noise........

Sorry to be the bearer of possible bad news but not sound good at all. The timing chain, tensioner's etc are located at the rear of the engine. It may be that something not very nice is going off. I would get someone to check for codes. Have you got a CEL? Is it still running? I would not drive unti...
