Just a quick update. I've changed the battery and the fault codes have not reappeared, so all is good for now.

Cheers for your help lads, Its a 2000 S4, I'll have to check the immobilizer fault codes as I haven't done that yet. I'm going to get a new battery the weekend so hopefully that will be the fix.
