Re: manual mode
I remember seeing that same video and thinking that he wasn’t actually putting the RS4 into manual properly.

Re: RJW’s RS4
I think the only real difference that'd affect you regularly would be the bigger MMI screen and that it's touch not control wheel operated. I don't know how much the OPF on the 9.5 drops the noise too. Otherwise there's no much between them besides minor aesthetics on the front and rear lights.

I've had this too but it's very rare so I haven't been able to diagnose it.

Re: When do you suggest to change tyres
2.5mm is getting pretty close. They'll start losing performance under 3mm. I'd definitely change them before they get near 2, and do all 4.

Re: RS4 B9 Maintenance - What to expect?
You can look this up in the MyAudi app (no subscription needed for this bit). Water drainage from pan roof: 20k miles / every 2 years Cabin air filter: 40k miles / every 2 years Spark plugs renew: 40k miles / every 6 years Rear final drive (sport diff) oil: 60k miles Air filter housing & new filter ...

Re: RJW’s RS4
OPF, new headlights w/ animation on start, chrome detail in rear light cluster, and perhaps crucially the 9.5 is when all the granular options disappeared and you picked from 3 or 4 trim levels instead. So no pan roof unless you find a Vorsprung, the top trim, for example

It wasn't. RS Sports Suspension was standard, and the option was RS Sports Suspension Plus with DRC (code 2MC)

Re: Any additional maintenance required
I don't have the intervals to hand, but I think there was some confusion about gearbox and diff oil change. Dean at 4 Rings said it's normally done at 45k, but the manual was saying 60k, which he said seemed odd to him. I opted to go with it at 45k anyway.

Re: Interesting video on two RS4 with rocker arm failures
Well, did a short drive the other day to run an errand and before I switched off back home noticed a new sound at idle. Popped the bonnet with the engine still running, and it sounds a lot like a fairly loud rattle from the top of the engine. It's going into 4 Rings on Monday anyway for service, so ...
