Re: Audi Tradition Sale FYI
I bought a rad and HVAC controls. Rads fine,.HVAC is just suffering the soft touch coating issue. My lesson on grabbing NOS is because my work wrote off and threw out 1x 078117021D. Now I've reserved all the 4b stock and peruse Tradition almost daily. Their freight rates to NZ are pretty good about ...

Re: Squeaking seat belts
I used to jam my wallet between the plastic surround (near the seat controls) and the leather seat base. That's where the majority of squeaks came from for me. Owning a 6 helps keep the wallet thing so it doesn't put too much pressure on the plastic.

Re: Squeaking seat belts
I use these to good effect. Though after the buckles are sorted I had to chase more where the leather seat base meets the plastic surrounds.

Front bumper - Lower centre grille surround
Hi team, I've been searching for ages trying to source a surround trim piece as per the subject line. Anyone know of a lead? I've been scammed once via the classifieds on this site, but have come back with the hopes that one of you will know of a wrecker who may have one. Here's fingers crossed...

Re: front brake pad recommendations
Hi all, FYI those looking for Genuine front brake pads these are compatible, brake wear sensors as well 3D0698151A I just fitted them to my 6 after they'd been sitting on my workbench for about 2 years - I'd completely forgotten I'd grabbed them to test. Hard to see but the last pic is an old.pad si...

Re: 17985 fault wont go away
Little update on this. Found the reason faults still there.............lad never replaced the mount and just did the NS one. He told my mate who owns the garage it had been done but turns out never did it as he said the engine would need to come out so just binned it off. I know this isnt the case ...

Re: Auto Express RS Avant video
I saw that. What he was looking for out of a car is not what the C5 was designed for, though it can carve up corners well - for a front heavy wagon with a few improvements to suspension, brake pads and some high performance modern tyres. Even without the mods, e.g. bone stock (but fully working) it ...

Re: AC compressor - engaged when interior temp set to HI???
Got into the scuttle box on the weekend. Replaced the orifice tube/screen and 3 seals that I could access. Check out that orifice tube! I don't think it's the smoking gun, potentially it's that way as a result of the system overheating and scorching itself after repeatedly being topped up (repeatedl...

Re: Project, they all are...
They have a thin aluminium band around the outside, I used a small screwdriver to deform it and bend it inwards. Making sure not to score the bore it sits in. To put the new ones in requires some patience as you need to try and get them to sit squarely before pressing them in. Then use your favouri...

Re: Project, they all are...
2 of the breather hoses had for what ever reason been replaced with some aftermarket silicone hose, which was of course leaking....new ones are on order. I'd had some codes for lean mixtures. The 2 seals between the mafs and the inlet were well past their best so have replaced them too. Had to get ...

I know I know, but we're all masochists at heart given we own these things. I figure I'll tempt Murphy knowing full well what I'm in for, as opposed to tip toeing around in counter clockwise circles while throwing salt over my shoulder

Re: AC compressor - engaged when interior temp set to HI???
You’d want AC for demisting so I think it’s normal that it’s on when the heating is on max. Hmmm interesting point, thanks Shopp (as always). I'll log the high pressure value and the clutch engagement during HVAC operation and see what happens. I'm crossing my fingers that if I have to replace the ...

AC compressor - engaged when interior temp set to HI???
Took the six out to stretch its legs/blow out the cobwebs yesterday and as I usually do when I return home I left it idling it with the heater on HI to help cool things off. After a few minutes I came back and could smell something burning. It wasn't the smell of oil, coolant or trans fluid, or brak...
