Weird.

Also, if I remove any one of the search terms from the URL then the search succeeds, even with &fid%5B%5D=2
That might be because I just fixed it :bigblink:

Re: Search function down

I fixed it but I'm not sure why it worked everywhere else except the RS6 forum. Anyway, the fix was to increase the PHP timeout from 30 seconds to 60 seconds (Probably not interesting but putting it here in case I need to fix it again someday).

Re: Search function down

I did some testing yesterday and it seems that the problem is being caused by &fid%5B%5D=2 in the URL. Now I need to figure out why it only seems to affect the RS6 forum.... RS4 forum with more posts works fine https://forum.rs246.com/search.php?keywords=Crank+position+sensor&terms=all&author=&fid%5...

Re: Search function down

Works for me. What word are you searching for? Can you provide the URL of the page where you get a 500 Error please?

If I go to viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15229

Then click on any of the links then the site logs me out.

Or rather, it stops using https and I have to either prepend it to the URL manually or log in again, but this is not secure (I noticed too late).
Fixed

Re: Please report spam, don't reply to it

I've done pretty much everything I can to try to stop the spam in an automated way but they still get through. I've blocked email domains, I've looked at blocking IP ranges but that wasn't reliable enough, I've deleted hundreds of accounts and added reCaptcha to the registration page. Either it's pr...

Just to add, I think the only problem with charging is the folk who don't have a sense of humour and complain about certain styles of posters. When they pay even £1, they throw the toys out the pram saying "I don't pay to have to read this".

Re: Spammers on the site

Good points but PMs are less of an issue, it's the "legit posts" and many of them are far from legit and require a huge amount of cleanup and administration. Paid membership solves a couple of problems, 1) we need money to run 2) I'm going to assume that spammers will not pay. I need to think about ...

Gotta do what ya gotta do MrT. Doesn't have to be mega money does it, plus it may help cover the revenue from the adverts and they can go as well!
That would be the plan. Just need to figure out an automated way to do it.

Re: Spammers on the site

At the moment I'm considering making the ability to post and PM a subscription. My thinking is that it'll get rid of the trash. I'm stuck for other ideas to get rid of the spam accounts.
