cv boot replacement

I'm about to replace a front outer cv boot but according to the instructions i'll have to remove the upper suspension links in order to remove the driveshaft from the hub. This is a bugger of a job from previous experience and I was wondering if anybody knows whether it's possible to remove the driv...

RE: Gearbox Reliability

A zf factory re-con box is available through the dealers as an exchange item and is a bit cheaper than a totally new box. It still has the same warranty as a new box. The oil was changed in my gearbox every 20k and lasted 74k before it went bang. It's replacement lasted about 650 miles. The third ge...

I've had exactly the same damage on my tyres. It's caused by the suspension allowing the tyre to contact the inner wheelarch on full bump. There is a protrusion on the inner upper edge of the plastic intercooler protector which can be removed. This lessens the chances of trashing your tyres, but doe...

gearbox problem

Had a new gearbox fitted in march {the second one in a six month period} and it's failed. It was in tiptronic mode but the dash display kept on flitting between tip and auto mode and the box would change up and down for apparently no reason. I wasn't driving hard at all, just running at a constant 5...

RE: rattle from front wheel

I've just had the same problem. I couldn't find it at first so just dismissed it. Then noticed a slight vibration on acceleration which disappeared when coasting. Have just been under the car today and found the nearside inner cv boot has split and when you grab the driveshaft and wiggle it it rattl...

I had the same problem when I had my screen replaced. It took autoglass about 6 weeks to sort themselves out. The screen is specific to the rs6 and v8 allroad and is actually deeper than a standard a6 screen. In the end they used the chassis number to order a screen from audi....VERY expensive appar...

The jet is very easy to remove and replace. It's only a cheap plastic push fit part, simply prise it out and fit a new one, it'll take less than a minute. I'm a cheap skate so I cleaned mine in an ultrasonic bath but I'd be shocked if a new one cost more than a couple of quid.

The arb's cost £400, make the ride quality a little more jittery, but improve the balance when pressing on a bit and substantially cut roll.

The bilstein kit includes springs, the damping rates and ride height are both adjustable. The kit costs somewhere in the region of £1400 + fitting. Speak to Grizz on this forum. £11k for a gearbox!!!! It'll never cost that, more like £5k for a ZF factory re-con box supplied and fitted including v.a....

RE: Re: shud I keep it or time to get out

Every performance/luxury car has depreciated massively. Can't see the point of chopping it in for some mundane car that you're going to regret buying the week after, and which will still depreciate. Now is the time to be bold and buy that exotic that you've always wanted while prices are so cheap. [...

By the way, if you're considering buying one assume you'll have to replace the gearbox at some point and factor that into your running costs as well.
It's still cheaper to buy and run than the Aston Vanquish, which didn't, when it tried to pull away from me the other day.

I find fuel fuel costs aren't really the major concern it's the other running costs which some people seem to forget about when thinking of purchasing a car. Tyres, brake discs and pads and general servicing. This thing eats tyres discs and pads like no other car I've owned. But then the performance...

RE: Gearbox paranoia

When my gearbox went a local gearbox specialist said they could rebuild it with an uprated clutch pack and valve bodies sourced from the U.S. This 'reputable' expert then went on to tell me the same kit of parts was tried and tested in NASCAR. Since when have they been using auto transmissions in NA...

RE: Gearbox recognition switch

What does this switch do exactly? My car has starting problems in that the engine simply won't turn over. It was believed to be a starter motor fault. The starter motor was replaced but after having the car back for less than 48 hours I'm back to square one. I went out on a short journey and when I ...
