Re: Need your thoughts for a purches
Do you mean RHD? Nope. LHD. Because he was from Sweden, I’m not sure they can import RHD cars. Japan typically has about a 50/50 mix of LHD/RHD RS6s come up for sale, Interesting, the cars I previously imported from Japan were all Japanese manufactured cars and all RHD and as Japan drives on the le...

Why not get a LHD one from Japan? Do you mean RHD? Nope. LHD. Because he was from Sweden, I’m not sure they can import RHD cars. Japan typically has about a 50/50 mix of LHD/RHD RS6s come up for sale, with LHD ones commanding a slight premium. This is because they’re considered the more “elite” car...

Re: How to spot C6 with 3G MMI?
Why not just get RSNav? I ran with that for a while, liked it a lot. Audi MMI will never be as good from 10 years ago, 2G or 3G. And exactly - if you try to find the exact car with 3G, you’ll probably miss some otherwise good ones.

Re: Need your thoughts for a purches
Yup. That seems like an insanely high price. Why not get a LHD one from Japan? $25K USD gets you a ~60-70k kms with zero rust, or if you go up to 30-35K then frequently single owner with history, and although you may run into the oil leak, at least the car will be clean as hell otherwise (and the tr...

Possible to run non-RS6 headlights on a RS6?
So my adjuster tab broke, and the right headlight won't point left and right. Since I was already considering sending them to Trups for an upgrade, I think this would make it a great opportunity to do it. But the hitch is I need the car in the meantime so I can't drive it without headlights. I am te...

Re: What oil spec is supposed to be used?
Every Castrol Edge 5W30 I've bought in the UK has been 504... Like I said, listen to "random bloke" on the internet, what could go wrong? Like you repeatedly mentioning 505 even when it's been pointed out to you it's for DIESEL engines.... Well, hang on. If you want to poke at my internet sleuthing...

Re: What oil spec is supposed to be used?
AFAIK VW505 is for diesel engines NOT petrol engines. But that's "random bloke" on the internet for you.. You COULD always just look in your manual.. Here's what a few discussions say: https://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?t=120971 https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/vw-504-and-507.101242...

Re: What oil spec is supposed to be used?
I've always used Castrol Edge 5w30, as per Audi spec I'm sure "random bloke" on the internet knows better tho.... Is that 505.00 approved though? [edit] weird. the one i see for sale in North America does say it. but not the one i see for sale here! VW505 is for diesel engines? lol duh ye...

Oops. Just re-read the intro coe the gen2 and it says:
“ VW 511 00**
** not backward compatible with previous approval (Porsche A40, VW 502 00 505 00 505 01)”

Re: What oil spec is supposed to be used?
Well, well. So I was coming up for my new oil change, and I ordered a can of Motul X-Clean 8100 since I was going to mix that with what was left of the last bin, but I received a can of Gen2, which is no longer 505.00/505.01 compliant, but is, instead, 511.00. What do I do now? Can I mix gen1 and ge...

Re: Storing an RS6 for several years - any advice?
Off the top of my head, dot 5 is the only silicone based fluid and it cannot be mixed with anything else. I wouldn't recommend using it if the car doesn't call for it. I guess it comes down to total cost as well, if you are paying someone to drive it , would it be cheaper to leave it with a friend ...

Re: Storing an RS6 for several years - any advice?
I'm thinking general humidity shouldn't be too much of an issue as the climate is relatively okay, and a car cover should, in principle, prevent bad water accumulation? How do you squirt oil into the cylinders? Remove the spark plugs, or? What to do with the fuel, brake fluid (someone posted replaci...

Storing an RS6 for several years - any advice?
So after all the work I’ve done on this damn thing, it looks like I might have to work abroad for a few years. I know financially it’s throwing good money after bad to store it etc, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s _possible_ - I recently came to the realisation that very few of my car decisions...
