Re: Famous RS6 owners
Not sure if it counts but I chatted to Chris Harris at a Top Gear filming and asked him what the best 1 car garage is and he said RS6 Estate. I shook his hand and offered him a drive in mine but he declined. Haha. He doesn't actually have 1 though because he obviously has more than 1 car in his gara...

Re: SAI on a different engine
Is there any opportunity to fit a slightly milder cam with less overlap? Otherwise making the intake far less restrictive than the exhaust could help. I like Shops idea of going to a smaller diameter exhaust at idle. That would work nicely. But if there isn't room at the exhaust end then maybe you c...

Re: Car struggled on first start up.... but just once!
Parked up the evening before and this was first start the next day. Its my daily so gets driven plenty.Banana man wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:47 pmHow long was it before it was started previously? My s4 had been laid up for a fair while and coughed and spluttered until it bled of air and the injectors cleared themselves, fine afterwards.

Re: Car struggled on first start up.... but just once!
No fault codes other than the SAI one which is always there.... I wouldn't say it was hunting as such, it was revving high and then spluttered and dropped down and nearly died and then straight back up high again. Did that twice but otherwise it was just high..... I will keep an eye on it and see if...

Car struggled on first start up.... but just once!
Hi all Bit of an odd one.... a few days ago I started my car up and it was all over the place. I wasn't anywhere near the throttle but it was reving up to 2k and then dropping down to almost stalling. I gave it maybe 10 seconds to sort itself out but it didn't so I turned it off, started it again an...

Re: Exhaust Manifold porn
That is actually a Nickel steel rather than a stainless (even better corrosion resistance). So it will have about the same Chromium as a stainless but it will also have around 11% Nickel.

Re: Key fob problems again
You say you can't stretch to VCDS but a limited VIN version is cheaper than the cost you paid for a new key. I think you can get a version for £250 or so... someone correct me if I am wrong. So sounds like you are £150 better off if it solves your problem. Plus its an extremely useful thing to have ...

Re: No power on way home huge flat spots
Lots of short to ground and low signal codes. Maybe a part of the wiring harness has worn through or been cut???

Re: Cylinder head pull....
Before you do that i’d suggest popping a little oil into cylinder 6 (via the spark plug hole) and doing the test again. If the reading goes up drastically then it’ll be a piston ring problem. If not then valves. Normally i’d say heads can be taken off with engine in situ but manifolds and inlet nee...

Re: Rear wiper arm.
Who needs rear wipers anyway!!! Haha, mine bounces across the window and makes horrible noises on the way up and then smooth as silk on the way down. New wiper blade didn't cure it so I have left it for now....

Yup, cats don't work unless they're warm. That's the point of the pre-cats. Closer to the engine they warm up quicker. Give it a good thrashing then ask the tested to do emissions first.

Re: Rs6 and the ring?
I've been a couple of times and to be honest I don't think of it as a track day anyway. A bit of fun on a country road mostly. I much prefer a good track day at somewhere like Spa!! But then the RS6 really is out of its comfort zone!!
