Re: Vibration under light acceleration at speed
Well, really weird, I was demonstrating the vibration to the wife on Saturday, convinced that it couldn't be a mis-fire because it didn't seem to matter what gear I was in, i.e. higher revs in 3rd at 70 the vibration was still the same freqeuncy as it would have been in 5th. Then on Sunday... no vib...

Vibration under light acceleration at speed
On the motorway yesterday and accelerating gently in 4th/5th gear I could feel a vibration. No vibration under full throttle or no throttle.
What could it be?
I found a thread on an alfa owners forum saying it could be worn drive shaft or CV joint, any ideas?

Re: RS6 brake servo failure
Update - haven't moved the car for a week or so, today took it to the local tyre depot very carefully. When I started it to drive back - servo is working again. So I'm thinking what the hell is going on. Need to get it up to Grizz to have a look at, but concerned it has now become an intermittent f...

Re: Help me get my car back...
Well it passed its MOT today, my first time driving the beast in 2 years and what a car! I had forgotten just how quick this car is even though I have been driving the 911 turbo in the meantime. Seems I have decided to keep her.

Re: RE: RS6 brake servo failure
Did the car have a FASH?? If so I would hit the roof with them as they are supposed to check condition of things like vacuum hoses. Any rubber component is liable to degrade with age, especially in the heat and damp of an engine bay on cars the age ours are now reaching. Dave This is not something ...

Re: Random engine check lights
The brake warning is possibly due to low battery voltage. I had this a couple of times years ago but only if I put the car into drive very quickly after starting it. Wait a few seconds to let the battery voltage pick up and all is fine.

Re: Help me get my car back...
Thanks for the ideas... it has been garaged all its life, so it is still in very good condition. I made the mistake of leaving the newish battery on charge (a normal charger) and of course forgot about it and fried it. It now has a new battery and surprisingly started first go. :) I was going to try...

Re: Help me get my car back...
Depending on mileage, I'd also consider new seals & thrust washers & bearings in the turbos - they start to wear and whilst probably still serviceable, it's a load of ballache to take the engine out again. It's also much cheaper to refresh the turbos before they have a major failure. Also worth con...

Help me get my car back...
... on the road! OK, the old dear has been sleeping in the garage for the last 2 years. It is in need of a gearbox and possible head gasket, I know that much. Cambelt will also need to be done after resting so long. What else should be replaced/inspected? Replace: 1) Gearbox 2) Head gasket 3) Cambel...

Re: Tailgate wont close
Be careful leaving it like this - if the switch is faulty there could be current going through the solenoid which will cause it to heat up. Mine went faulty when left overnight at the Audi garage (they had left the boot open) next day the number plate surround had melted. New plate, new surround, lu...

Re: Battery dead
Ha! That brings back memories of taking a battery out of an old snow-covered renault and warming it up in front of the fire for an hour. Worked a treat.adsgreen wrote: The charge is still there and if you warm the battery up then it'll burst into life (granted, not very practical).

You like lists then Rupert - 1. Do a search, been about 100 million threads about this. 2. ...and I've read most of them, but they do get very messy indeed, normally with people changing their minds half way through, talking about valve bodies, clutch packs, solenoids, uprated torque converters, sh...
