Re: £ 21" Wheel
Women and kerbs eh  My missus smashed into a kerb on Friday night, kerbed the wheel badly, tyre was a write off but she still managed to get it home. Come through the door crying about the wheel and the tyre. Wheel was changed with a new tyre first thing Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, s...

Re: Mixing oil brands?
I think you need to be very careful about mixing different brands (or even same brand variants) of full synthetic oils as the additives can be different. What is important is to ensure you use the same spec (VW504 - VW507) as well as the same viscosity. For sure, a small quantity top-up is far safer...

Re: Oil Change Interval - best advise?
I did my first oil change at just 3K miles (5k km) and thereafter will repeat at half the recommended intervals. I intend keeping the car well beyond its warranty and consider that clean fresh oil is a low cost no brainer for longevity. High oil temp is not a problem with fully synthetic oils but lo...

Re: Wheel advice needed please
Not Bridgestone per se but the S001s developed for Ferrari's 458 Italia. I did back to back testing between Pirelli P zero and S001 for many miles on both my A6 avant 3.0 TDI Quattro and again on my Maserati 3200. Both had 4 wheel alignment carried out on each set.. The difference was huge once the ...

Re: Wheel advice needed please
FWIW, I fully understand the aesthetics that some state for choosing the 21s, I specified 20s in early 2016 for the simple reason I can use Bridgestone S001 when I need replacement rubber. That was before the strange crack issues surfaced on some of the 21s so I guess I was lucky.

Re: Wheel advice needed please
AFAIK the standard 20inch dished alloys have given no trouble whatsoever, the probs being confined to the optional 21 inch items. Therefore you could fit these assuming you are using steel brakes and not the ceramics

Re: Winter pressure
In Summer I usually run the full load (5 persons) settings irrespective of actual load especially for Autobahn use. In the winter I usually drop these to the lower part load (3 persons) settings unless I actually carry a full load of course. The purpose of setting pressures cold to those recommended...

Re: Torque spec on wheels bolts
What is the point of adding 5/10NM to the recommended torque? The correct way of rechecking after a few miles is crack off each bolt, re-torque back to manufacturer's spec and repeat for next bolt / wheel - 120NM No more, no less.

For the Brembo wavy discs:
Front 19" dia: 36mm new / 2mm wear limit / therefore 34mm is the minimum thickness
Rear 17" dia: 22mm new / 2mm wear limit / therefore 20mm is the minimum thickness
hope this helps

There are actually 3 settings on the MMI for headlight activation time - early medium and late. Not sure how this affects matrix auto dimming as mine has been on Medium from delivery but I have been flashed on a couple of occasions in 4,500 miles
