Re: 2008 RS6 avant night time 'beeping'
Low batteries on these things throw up all manner of "not a real fault" issues, even if you recharge them via driving for an hour or so they still seem to throw random stuff without a full "out of the car" recharge or a replacement battery (depending on its age). And he's right - as usual. However,...

Re: Used C6 RS6 as a daily driver?
Having pulled my engine a number of times I feel confident in asserting that you have to go some to do it in less than two days and you're looking at even longer for refitting - call it at least 30 hours labour. Then there's new oil and coolant, power steering refill and an air-con recharge to name ...

Re: Used C6 RS6 as a daily driver?
I used mine as a daily for most of my last four years before retirement - something between 50 and 70 miles daily depending on which route I felt like taking. That and the other miles I did used a tank of fuel about every 6 days. I took it off the road to deal with smoking turbos and 'the' oil leak ...

Original LH at the top, facelift RH below https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53612287551_5346b3e53e_n.jpg OK, the original pictured is a standard A6 incandescent unit and the facelift pictured is LED but the lens differences are the same - clear indicator instead of amber and a wider reverse light ...

Re: No rpm
What I've managed to trace from the circuit schematics so far: Starter relay 2 is energised by starter relay 1 being switched by a signal from pin 74 of the 94-pin connector on ecu1. The signal from the RPM sensor goes to a connection point in the engine compartment loom where it is split to both ec...

Re: Turbo inlet seal part number help
Yep, the part listed in ETKA is a big O-ring for the end of the inlet pipe where it meets the turbo and it's listed as 'always replace' if you remove the inlet pipe. The inlet seal here is also listed 'always replace' in repair instructions although similar to ETKA in the exploded diagram the refere...

Re: No rpm
I don't think there's a dedicated cranks sensor - at least I've never found one. However, actually, there are 5 sensors. The engine speed sensor (G28) which either reads the ring teeth or a marker on the drive plate (I thought it was the ring teeth but having read a bit more I may be wrong on that) ...

Re: Misfire saga
That was what I'd concluded. The battery still had a year and a bit to go on it's 5-year warranty but who (except my father) keeps receipts that long? Still, the starter seems to spin a lot better with the new battery but I think I'm going to do a bit more digging this week as I've just driven throu...

Misfire saga
During the cold snap we had at the start of last month the battery in my car went flat. Charged it and didn't think anything more of it. At the end of the week before last, flat battery again. Couple of days later I got a flashing CEL which turned out to be triggered by a misfire on #8. Pulled the c...

Re: Injector fault
If it's the injector it depends on how old the set is. If they're all the originals then best to replace the lot - it's amazing how bad they can be without appearing to effect the way the engine runs. If it's wiring then you need a good autoelectrician to pin-point the fault and possibly perform a c...

Re: No rpm
Possibly but I doubt it, more likely it's the sensor playing up when it's warm. I'd not be surprised if you found a coating of metal dust on the tip of the sensor as such things love to attract metallic debris. I'd clean it up and see if it made any difference.

Re: No rpm
Engine speed (RPM) sensor G28 is mounted in the bottom of the gearbox bellhousing close to the bellhousing/oil intake module joint. It's an electro-magnetic sensor which 'reads' the starter ring gear teeth on the drive plate. If your starter sticks on, some of the teeth on the ring gear may be damag...

The original listed sensor for the RS6 was 059919523A - that was superseeded to 059919523F about 10 years ago.

Re: GREAT DEAL ON AP BRAKE DISCS! Also, tyre advice?
Are you sure you've bought the correct pads? The C6 RS6 (the V10) has 4 pads in total at the front, the C5 RS6 (V8) has 8.
