Is the water temp reading fine? I had a faulty sensor that played havoc with my fans. Can't remember the fault code it threw, though. I made a thread for it a little while back.

Re: Norwegian RS6 C5
So, time to move on already. She's got so many small issues all the time I'm getting a little tired of all that "character" to be honest. New owner will take good care of her.
Getting a new Golf GTi as a replacement. Gonna miss the power, but reliability is more important.

Re: Front axle oil seals, ATF fluid needs to be drained?
Thanks. It is the left side. Is this manual available somewhere?

Front axle oil seals, ATF fluid needs to be drained?
Was doing a left front bearing and bushings at my local shop, and figured they could swap the oil seal on that side as well, as there's a slow drip. They claim pulling the axle will drain the box and require a full fluid swap. Is this correct?

Re: Radio circuit current drain
So, I'm still at it with this issue. The Radio circuit is the one with the most current draw of over 0.6A, so that's the obvious place to start. I have an aftermarket headunit and a BOSE adapter to use the built-in amp and speakers. I don't use the CD-changer, nor the navigation system and FM aerial...

Re: car back after gearbox rebuild
I thought the front and rear diffs were open on the c5? So only the center diff would bind.

Re: car back after gearbox rebuild
I have that as well, I figured it was the center diff binding up?

Re: Nurburgring trackday saga
Seriously quick, even with dodgy brakes. A bit of "stabbing" on the throttle mid corner, you seemed to fight the car a bit, but dang that thing looks super fast. Gotta love the Ring, man!

Re: Transmission fluid drip
Indeed. I'll be doing other work with the car on jacks this weekend. I'll clean everything properly and see if I can spot the leak before tearing into things.

Re: Transmission fluid drip
It "looks" easy enough to get the driveshaft out of the box on the left side. I'll remove the suspension on that side anyway since I'm doing the suspension at the same time. I'll check the bearings too.

Re: Transmission fluid drip
Yes. That seems to be the point where it's leaking. Are there any other seals in that area that are known to fail?

Re: Transmission fluid drip
Had a look yesterday, and there's transmission fluid everywhere. Seems to be the flange seal, and the shaft is throwing the oil everywhere. Left side. Can anyone confirm it's 01L 409 399 that goes in there?

Nice, that means I've got plenty life left in them. Going to have them on a lathe since they are a bit rusted on the edge.

Anyone know how much wear is allowed?

Re: Transmission fluid drip
Yeah, in Norway, so I'll source them locally if needed. She needs some love in many areas, sadly.
