Hello all, I Left the RS6 at the garage yesterday to replace the drivers side CV boot. Had a call from the garage today to say they're finding it difficult to replace the CV boot as they risk breaking/snapping the lower control arms under tension whilst removing, they maybe seized?? Engine management light has come back on again and the revs have started fluctuating slightly although not as bad as before.

Any ideas guys??

Revs now seem fine after a good drive at higher revs

Everything's brilliant except now the revs seem to fluctuate after the boost pipe replacement and replacing 1 of the MAF sensors?? When you start it, it sometimes starts to automatically climb revs upto 1800. Advised its maybe the wrong MAF sensors that's been replaced as there's 2? Or the throttle ...

Also, that slight noise at 1200revs I'm told is the butterfly flap? Most Performance cars have them.

Just a quick update:

1 MAF sensor replaced and new silicone pipe fitted to replace an old boost pipe that had a tear = No Engine management light and MUCH BETTER drive

My engine management light has also come on!
Code read along the lines of: Engine Bank 1 too rich and another code for Bank 2

Any ideas, lambda sensors? MAF sensor?

There is a slight vibration/rattle for a split second at roughly 1200, currently discussing this in the General section of the forum. Noise is barely noticeable and performance is not affected.

SuperSi did you manage to make a video recording of the noise? Might swing it round to Audi when I get a chance. Iv had enquiries about the RS6 but as soon as I mention there is a slight vibration for a split second, the buyer is put off straight away. So a bit stuck at the moment especially as I do...

And is it something to worry about? Will it have an impact on my asking price? At the moment my 2004 RS6 C5 Avant 78k is on for sale £9499 and on here for £9199.

Does it sound similar to a loose undertray? Performance is not affected its just that sound.

I'm in the process of selling so unsure as to what to say to a potential buyer, unless its something common on the C5 Audi RS6s?
