Re: 2003 Audi Rs6 limp mode on start up.

There was a few on eBay but £500-£600?!!! Ended up paying £235 from Lithuania! Chuffed to bits it's worked as it's been an intermittent problem since I bought the car over a year ago. Got mine from ebay.de last year and paid around £300. Worked fine too. Wonder what they cost from Audi? When I was ...

Re: Miles.....

No need to be scared of big miles; as long as it's had the main issues addressed e.g. gearbox & DRC with regular oil/cambelt changes then it's just a number. Would you rather a.) buy a 70k mile car on its original 'box with no evidence of all of the above having been carried out, or b.) one with dou...

Re: Possible purchase - advice please

Mine was great on the test drive with no strange noises, plus the paddles and all modes worked OK. Few weeks later the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and it went into limp mode (stays in 3rd.) I'd also recommend augmenting the crossed fingers with a gearbox fund to lessen the shock if the worst h...

Re: Possible purchase - advice please

Not a fast driver just always wanted one since the s6 avant I had, how much will it cost to fix the box if it packs in. Speaking from experience: the 'box on my previous '6 cost me around £3700 to be rebuilt (about a year ago) which included a re-manufactured TC. I also needed a new TCU (£300 from ...

Re: Possible purchase - advice please

What are they? 510 bhp? Through 2 wheels? Noice. From Wiki: " The E55 AMG is powered by the M113 ML55 engine, a 5.4 L V8 with a Lysholm type supercharger manufactured by IHI. The E55's engine was rated at 476 PS (350 kW; 469 hp) and 700 N·m (520 lb·ft), the low end of the supercharged 55 range due ...

Re: Possible purchase - advice please

Test drove this today as it was literally 3 miles down the road from me (Rainham-Newington.) Never owned a Merc before but was suitable impressed. Somewhat more refined that a '6 but  it's brisk.. Owner is a bit of a petrolhead and had (amongst others) a mint Escort RS turbo and a 205 GTi 1.9...

Re: Possible purchase - advice please

Thanks for all your comments guys.

Think I'm going to err on the side of caution and keep looking. Last thing I want is the box going AWOL (been there, got the t-shirt), and yes the mileage is a tad high for a Plus.

What's that blob on the dash carbon fibre?
It's a mobile phone magnet (the other half attaches to your phone.) Hmm.

Re: Possible purchase - advice please

It would only be used occasionally, couple of thousand miles a year at most. I personally like the Plus' natural leather, black optics and the RNS-E is a bonus. Have asked about the orange thingamajig... As long as the mirrors have been well done I don't mind. Hope to see it Monday although it's a f...

Possible purchase - advice please

Hi all :) Sold my C5 last year and bought a little Mk1 TT as it was on my bucket list! I'm actually very impressed - it's had a new clutch, been poly bushed and has only covered 74k. However, the C5 itch has started and I've been looking around. Found this Plus recently and have been chatting to the...
